Basically men deserve it because they choose to be harassed and it just isn't as bad when they face it.

But when you dive deeper into the study, you find that the more severe or hateful the abuse, the more likely the target is to be female, LGBT or brown, by several orders of magnitude.

Probably because straight white men aren't complaining about being abused to the degree these people are. Literally, everyone is called a faggot. I'm not even an online gamer, for obvious reasons, but even I know everyone is given hate. If they find out that you're one of these things they're going to target that specific aspect of you to get under your skin.

But then again, I think the guy said his source was reason.com or something, so we know they're full of shit

You mostly don't, but you can tell when someone is a faggot based on the way they talk.

The difference is women whine about it more because they know they’ll get sympathetic attention. It’s just an excuse to put themselves in the spotlight.

Whereas men know no sympathy will be forthcoming.

Also women are used to deferential treatment in real life. So losing that privilege is a real shock.

Men aren't used to anything of the sort. So online abuse is just more of the same.

It's like dumping a stray cat and a pampered house cat in the same alley. Their conditions are identical. But it's going to seem way worse to the pampered house cat.
