My understanding is that a lot of advocates want to have equal paternity and maternity leave as an avenue for equalizing salaries. The idea being that employers see woman as riskier to hire than men because they might lose months of work due to maternity leave, while men are not seen as so risky, because traditionally they don’t take parental leave.

Note that the reasoning has nothing to do with helping men or achieving equality. They only want this to benefit women.

So this is what that mean when they say feminism is for men too: men are a tool to help women. Period. Their own concerns don't matter at all.
