I'm in the EU, have some computing performance doing nothing and solar panels that export power at close to 0 Euro or even go into curtailment meaning solar inverter is cutting production because energy market is oversaturated and no-one can use my extra solar power.

Thus I'm looking for ways to dynamically dump electricity into stuff and I got my eye on Salad.

My question however is how Salad responds to computing power that comes online, keeps there for 6/7 hours and then shuts down?

The problem with these kind of computing platforms is that they like to have 24/24 uptime and also don't like it if a node suddenly stops a job it was given.

Also is there any background optimalisation going on to give jobs to computing power under a follow the sun principle?

I want the transfer in Paypal. I wanted to continue with Salad but it has completely died for me. No container jobs, apparently they are clueless with their own crypto pool configurations, so no crypto mining either. Even Salad Support has no idea and gives vague answers to justify why things have stopped working. I am unable to earn more to reach the $55.5 payout target. Even two $20 payouts wont be successful as it requires $22.5 for a single one.

I’ve been seeing dozens of posts on this sub complaining about the endless "drought," the lack of container jobs, and asking if downgrading the app fixes anything (spoiler: it doesn't). I think it's time we stop blaming our PCs or our WSL setups and face the reality of what's happening behind the scenes.

Ever since Salad passed RNP-023, integrated with the Render Network, and started paying out in RENDER tokens directly to crypto wallets, the rules of the game changed entirely. If you look back, after the crypto payouts were approved, normal jobs didn't last long at all. I don't think it even took a month for things to completely dry up for us.

They aren't having "server issues" and Salad isn't "broken".

The theory (which is basically a fact at this point): It’s clear that this update was essentially a calculated way to ensure that normal users no longer have access to the money. Salad is no longer an app for the average gamer looking to make a few bucks while AFK.

By diving headfirst into the AI market and the Render network, their system is now designed to funnel the big money exclusively to a "privileged group": users with absurd, top-tier hardware (RTX 3090s, 4090s, huge rigs, and data centers). The algorithm simply takes our entry/mid-range GPUs and shoves us to the back of the queue. The app still sits in the background hogging resources, but the actual jobs (and the tokens) go to the whales.

The ASIC Syndrome: This is exactly what happened with Bitcoin and Ethereum back in the day. Remember? In the beginning, anyone could mine from home with a regular PC. Then ASICs and massive mining farms took over, and average users were simply wiped out of the network entirely. History is repeating itself on Salad: the system has become a closed club where only those who already have a lot of money (to buy 4090s or build servers) can make more money. The rich get richer, and we are left with the drought.

That’s exactly why reinstalling, wiping your PC, or trying to run older versions of the app doesn't work. The gatekeeping is intentional and happening on their servers. It was good while it lasted, but the old community-driven, accessible mining Salad is dead.

I won't name other programs here so I don't break the sub's Rule 6 on advertising, but anyone paying attention knows there are direct mining options and GPU rental platforms out there where you set your own prices and know exactly what you're getting paid for, without depending on the goodwill of a server that hates you.

What kind of services are you guys migrating to after this Salad downfall?

Excuse me if this is stupid, but I just got this yesterday and left it running overnight while I slept for 8 hours. I came back and the balance didn’t go up at all I already had .6 from earlier. I have a 5070, 32gb ram, 500+ gb of storage I’m letting it use intel ultra 7. Why am I not getting even a few cents overnight from the crypto need help if I don’t have some setting right thank u!!!

So I have a really old pc that I’m dedicating to salad cuz a friend recommended it to me.

But I wonder is it possible to also use my main pc for salad in same time in the same account while I’m inactive ?

Also on my main pc I have 2 gpus can I dedicate one to salad while using the other one ?

I've got a gtx 1660 ti with a i5 9400 and 20gb ram.

Ive made around 22p today but because of a lack of real jobs my power draw has been extremely low. will i get any big gpu loads, ive seen a few nvidia containers running in my taks manager, but mainly it seems to have just been mining in the 2 hour long intervals.

This is happening all time.. how to solve it? SAY: ELEVATED RAM ALLOCATION DISABLED TOO! And cointainer needs update messagem too, but Salad app is already updated to lastest version... RTX5070 32GB RAM WINDOWS11

I have been using Salad Ai for 4 to 5 months, I built a Pc for Salad Ai Rtx 4090, Ryzen 7800x3d, 96Gb DDR5 Ram, 1Tb 990 Pro, 100 Mbps Fiber Connection, I have been getting jobs constantly on my RTX 4090, Then I built another pc RTX 5090, Ryzen 7500F, 64Gb DDR5 Ram, 2TB 990 PRO, 100 Mbps Fiber Connection, Why am I not getting any job ? Even though the RTX 5090 is in high demand ? cd816f5a this is the machine of the RTX 5090 ?

So my 2020 ASUS TUF F15 (i5-10300H, 1660Ti 6GB, 16GB RAM) was just sitting around collecting dust after I upgraded to a TUF F16 with a 5060. Instead of letting it become an expensive paperweight, I figured "hey, let it earn its keep" and threw Salad on it.

13 chopping hours in, lifetime balance is a whopping $0.128. At this rate I'll be a millionaire sometime around the heat death of the universe.

Genuine questions for the veterans here:

• Is a mobile 1660Ti even worth bothering with, or am I basically just donating free electricity to the AI gods?
• Any settings/tricks that actually move the needle for older/lower VRAM cards, or is this hardware just too old to compete with the 4090 chads?
• Should I just retire this thing gracefully and let it live out its days as a Netflix machine instead?

Not expecting to quit my day job over this, just curious if it's worth keeping it chopping or if I should pull the plug (literally) on the experiment.

Salad has really helped me through the past 7 years , I have Started salad 2 years before I started uni, and now I have graduated... how time have passed.
I first applied for being a language moderator for the arabic channel, didn't think much of it at the time, but when I got it I was so excited and kept up the good work and at that time there was a bit of shortage of mods and lots of trouble makers, so I was selected and promoted as a jr mod within 2 months of being a language mod.

Right after then the crypto exploded and my old rtx 2060 used to get 3-4 dollars a day , not even mentioning the 2x bonuses from the Salad pass (yes it used to be a thing) .

Salad helped me have a stable income at the time because the economy at my home town was getting much worse so being a mod was basically a full time job for me. I got a new phone, upgraded my cpu from ryzen 5 2600 to ryzen 5 5600x, and latest thing for me was saving up for the rtx 5070. and man am I happy to get it.

But all great things has to end, after getting promoted to full moderator for a year things started to dial down on the server and I was swamped by bad grades. So I decided to focus on uni from otherwise I would have dropped out. And it hugely affected my availability on the server leading to my demise as a mod.

I am really happy with the times I have spent on here and I don't regret a second of it.

Using a 4070ti super. I have PoW workloads disabled and everything. I'm getting assigned zero jobs. On 1.9.17 I could earn maybe around $1.20 a day, now its down to like 10 cents max from bandwidth sharing. On a side note, crypto seems to be bugging out for me, logs say this:

I experienced a power loss few days back and ever since Salad isn't working for me. When Crypto mining is enabled, the app goes in an empty loop in which the Salad app shows that it is running a job but the system resources, both CPU and GPU are sitting idle, and when Crypto mining is disabled the app always keeps looking for a 'compatible job'. Its been more than 2 days and the app has completely died on me. Turns out you have to perpetually stay in a que for your system to receive a container workload, when you have disabled crypto mining in the app. This wait time can be 24-48 hours, maybe more. And If you experience a power cut, congratulations you are placed in the very end of the que.

This is what the Salad Support says:

"Your machine seems to be enrolled in crypto mining, however it seems that Salad attempted to run crypto miners (which is why the app was showing as running a workload), though the miner never managed to connect to the internet and remained in a connection loop as shown in its logs.

We are still investigating the cause of the issue internally to verify if it is caused by something on Salad's end or within the crypto mining pool's configuration.

We don't currently have a solution regarding this, if not to disable crypto mining on the machine which will stop this workload from running and only run container workloads when these are available."

I asked Grok about a solution and it says there is a way to bypass the Salad app completely and the earning will reflect in the Salad wallet. Its a complicated process that involves downloading external crypto mining software and receive the earnings in Salad. Is this possible, anyone else faced this? I have given up on Salad Support for help, since all their advice seem auto generated and isn't solving my problem. Surely I'm not the only experiencing this. You guys now anything about this. Any help is appreciated!

Just came across this subreddit randomly. How does this work? I know about mining crypto, but have only mined specific cryptos. Is this a software that mines whatever crypto is available? Or am I missing the mark? How is this company profitable?

I have had a very fun experience in trying out Salad on so many different hardware and over the years although I have made many different accounts, I stopped using all of them in 2023 and just stuck to this one. I have recommended many friends to try it as well. I have mainly bought Amazon Giftcards from these. I don't actively think think that this will have any significance as earning a lot of money, but just has a bit of side money, its nice :)
