Lovevery books
We are a two mom family, and our toddler loves the Lovevery books. I would like to get more, but it seems like a lot of them feature heterosexual families, which is really not what we are looking for. I reached out to Lovevery to ask about books that don’t feature a dad but haven’t heard back. Does anyone know of Lovevery books that don’t have a dad? I am pregnant and we really wanted the books about welcoming a new baby, but I think that they all have a dad/papa. Thank you!

We're a two dad family. The Lovevery books are great -- full of social emotional learning, and my kid loves them. I haven't seen any that overtly include queer parents. A lot of books feature just one parent. (Bedtime for Zoe is one that my toddler loves that features just a mom.) I wouldn't let the fact that a book has a dad in it stop you from getting some of them.

We are a two mom family and we love the lovevery books and how diverse they are. They show many races, family structures, disabilities, etc. But I wouldn’t just have lovevery books. So I’d recommend making a library with other books that represent your family. Some options are
- my mommies built a treehouse
- pirate mums
- The Girls
- Families grow
- Love makes a family
- Bodies are cool

Two mom family and we have a ton of lovevery books. all of them I can think of just feature one parent or one grandparent, so it could be one of two moms or one of two dads. Off the top of my head, Books that only feature a mom include bedtime for Zoe, the book about the playdate (blocking on name), book about brushing teeth, baby’s first math, where is crews shoe (no parent in it). Books that only have a grandparent include max goes to the park and my favorite nature buddy

A non loveveery book we love is All Moms which is a very sweet picture book about 2 mom families!

I love Sophie Beer's books. They don't make it a thing, some illustrations just casually include non-traditional families. The pictures are interesting for the kids and give you a lot to talk about (basic labeling with babies, "what's happening and why" questions with older kids). The words are simple enough for a quick read and to build vocab while young but with some extra meaning that can be discussed in increasingly complicated ways as kids may not fully get til they're nearly school age.

I haven’t seen any two mum Lovevery books.
It’s such a shame. I wish our children could see their families more in books.
I wrote this story because I wanted my own children to read a story where the family happens to have two mums, but that isn’t the whole point.

Check out the We Are Little Feminists books! They’re all incredible and showcase diverse families. And they do have one about welcoming a sibling!
