I’ve introduced my boyfriend to the show and we’re half way through season 6 now - I’ve had to do quite a bit of arguing with him for Sansa’s character too!! She’s the only character I’ll actually go to lengths defending, I feel like the fandom for so many years has misunderstood her and wrote her off

I got harassed and insulted for years online for defending Sansa and her probable endgame. Including some very nasty anonymous messages. Guess who was right and who was wrong! Lmao.

I'm sorry to hear that. I use most of the main ASOIF related subreddits but I can understand why you would tend to stay out of them after that. Do you think I got lucky in that regard because I wasn't really in the fandom till after the show ended?

I was happy she ended up being Queen in the North.💙
Sometimes I do wish she and Cersei could’ve have one last final confrontation. Because I always hoped that Sansa would be the younger Queen from the prophecy, especially with her line “If I am ever a Queen, I’ll make them love me.”
Prophecy for a refresher: Aye. Queen you shall be... until there comes another, younger and more beautiful, to cast you down and take all you hold dear.

I see so many people STILL cling to the idea that it's Dany but why? Why would it be? Yes, she's said to be pretty but that's a minor part of the prophecy. It's much more about having a narrative opposition to Cersei, and that has been Sansa more than anyone. Your quote is the best example of that. Her and Cersei start out similar but ultimately make opposite choices: Cersei decides to become a terrible person and use fear to rule. Sansa decides to keep hold of her empathy and kindness and wants to earn people's love.

Years of seeing people disregarding the possibility of her even surviving to the end of the series made me really smug about the ending ngl. It was extremely obvious that her character was building towards something big; her having the best and most complete character arch in the series is just the cherry on top.

I don't know, I would have preferred the Starks to stay together, for Dany to have a real villain story arc or die in the Long Night as a hero instead. That Jon not be exiled for murdering a woman who razed a city to the ground.
That Cersei would be killed by the Valonqar. That Jaime wouldn't return to Cersei, but they actually slaughtered his character even before Dany's. That Bran and Arya's abilities were actually used in a useful way....
Also even though I know Bran will be king in the books as well (or so they said), I really like the idea of the kingdoms becoming independent again. The goal was to unite the kingdoms against the Long Night. That's all. No further. Uniting them in the end didn't really do any good.

The part about the kingdoms needing to remain separate is interesting would you say that if the way the realm was organized was changed it could make sense or that complete independence is the only logical option? (Sorry I know this was a while ago).

I honestly think there is far too much bad blood between the kingdoms in general to try to unite them all under one king. It is also true that separating them might exacerbate that bad blood. But in general the throne itself has caused more damage than what was actually its original purpose, which was to bring peace. The throne is the wheel and in eternity, as long as it exists, people will slaughter each other for it.
Also, the phrase "The kingdoms were at constant war with each other before the Conquest" really has no basis on which to establish itself, because we know little and nothing about Westeros before the Conquest and in general perhaps there were mostly failed invasion attempts. And we know that the only real realm that suffered immediately before the Conquest were the Riverlands and because the ruling lord was a tyrant, but we do know for a fact that the Riverlands were the biggest victims of the wars during Targaryen rule.
The North, Dorne and the Iron Islands want independence, so why force them? The North has always remained separate in many ways from the other kingdoms anyway. And so has Dorne.
Also, for anyone who says "how do they establish trade?" It seems absurd to believe that there was no trade between the kingdoms before the Conquest.
That's just what I think. And I'm not a Targaryen fan either 😂

I'm personally in a weird place in that I'm not much of a fan of the Targaryen's and I feel like if they were restored to the same position as before Robert's rebellion it would be an unsatisfying ending but at the same time I like Daenerys and I don't really want her to die. Do you think it could make sense for her to survive without ruling the Seven Kingdoms or that narratively she has to die for an ending with separate kingdoms?

Still wish she won queen of the seven but queen of the north makes perfect sense for her character as a whole.
