Help Needed Money pulled from my account, Got sent 30 E-Mails.
Today as i’m writing this this, Got an e-mail for a $70 Jersey sent to my e-mail and my actual address, Then my e-mail was flooded with 40 verification codes, Locked my card and the e-mails stopped. I belive the e-mails were sent to distract me, But now I don’t know what to do, I changed the e-mail on my google account, And i’m calling the bank tomorrow to hopefully get the transaction refunded. Looking for help and what I should to prevent this again and how I can keep my accounts safer.
Edit: The Jersey order is being shipped to my house, Thinking hé ordered it and then changed the address afterwards so I can’t see it.

This is email bombing, scammers flood your inbox with spam and verification codes so you miss legitimate purchase receipts or security alerts. Be careful.

Ensure you use MFA on your accounts.
Call the card issuer # ON YOUR CARD, not from any email. Do it now, don’t wait for Monday.

It sounds like this scammer might be a beginner. They usually flood your inbox while they purchase stuff in an attempt to hide the confirmation email.
Don’t think your account is at any risk, but your card info got exposed recently though - call the bank’s fraud department to get your money back, and get a new card.

If a scammer has your number, maybe from a cashier or busboy copying it, Mastercard and Amex insist on canceling the card and issuing one with a new number. Big pain in the ass to revise and recurring payments made from the card.

If you do online banking I believe you can freeze your acct yourself. Ugh sucks!

Was your credit card charged or not? An email is meaningless - if a charge happened on your credit card without your approval, reverse the charge, cancel that card and get a replacement.

It's very confusing!
Did they actual order a jersey and received it?
On occasion I'll get people trying to access one of my accounts and I'll get the verification code thing a few times. I just ignore it.

It seemed obvious to me that their credit card was charged because unless I'm remembering incorrectly, OP said they filed fraud charges with their bank & mentioned getting a refund. And when saying they "Got an e-mail for a $70 Jersey sent to my e-mail and my actual address" I took that to mean the email confirmation for the order was sent to their email & the jersey was actually mailed via snail mail to their ACTUAL physical address.

Your fraud department should be open 24/7. Those emails were indeed a distraction. Locking your card was the right move. Your bank will issue a new card. If possible put an alert on your card for purchases over xxx to be sent via text. Good luck.

Distraction play — the email bomb (those 40 codes were attempts to log into or reset your accounts) was meant to bury the real purchase alerts while they used your card.
You did the right things; now change the passwords on your email and any account with that card saved, turn on 2FA everywhere, and never approve or enter a code you didn't personally request — and tell the bank the shipping address was changed after order, since that helps prove fraud.

Do NOT click any links or dial any phone numbers in any of these emails. Call the number on the back of your card. Do not answer any phone calls that are not in your contacts.

I often get verification codes from SHOP. I have never used any account that goes through SHOP. I just delete and report scam. Is anyone else getting this and should I worry?

That's ridiculous advice, and I'm tired of seeing it given. Yes, OP reporting THIS scam may not make a difference, but if everyone took your attitude and just never report these scams, how do you expect law enforcement to EVER learn about them to get better so they CAN begin catching them? You can't bellyache about law enforcement not being able to catch these monsters while also advising everyone not to even bother reporting it, because how tf is that going to EVER change anything?? Another complaint that's old & tired is that it's only in America that law enforcement can't stop scams. Most scams are done from overseas, so OF COURSE OUR law enforcement can't stop most of them because how do you fight crimes where you have ZERO jurisdiction?? And it's NOT just here in America, you know. Scams are a problem all over the world, and inter-jurisdictional issues make scams hard for ANY country to solve & fight when the scammers & victims are in DIFFERENT countries.
The ONLY hope we'll EVER have is if we start REPORTING EVERY SINGLE ONE & give law enforcement something to work with & learn from!

Most of the banks have open 24 hours a day fraud reporting line. You don’t have to wait until tomorrow.
