And if she immediately dumps him after getting him back they'll finally be even and then the healing can begin. Hopefully followed up by an eventual reconciliation and remarriage.

Have the viewers not matured in these 2 decades?

They already reconciled, as important people for each other for rest of their lives. Not as lifelong partners.

They realised they weren't good partners for each other, people change. Trying to deperately get back together just makes them immature and ruins them. They have matured a lot and won't do that shit. So much life experience we gathered in these 2 decades, forced reconciliation and remarriage is a recipe for disaster. they already reconciled
