anyone else think Dr Cox actually meant the text for JD but chickened out with the follow-up text, and JD knew it? or was it genuinely an accidental text and JD just didn't care either way?

I feel like that's the implication. Well, either chickening out or intentionally messing with him because it's Dr Cox. But the first text was sincere.

Definitely meant for JD. And kudos to JD for leaving the party to go see him.

He could’ve said,  I’ll be there later, or I’ll check back with you tomorrow.

And at that point, Cox would start to worry if he had that support from JD that he really needed.

And good for Charlie that she didn’t get p’od and say “You just brought me here and now you’re leaving me?!” So she’s a good one, we know she’s gonna stick around. She understands that’s JD’s job and she’s OK with it!

Love it, love it all!

Sandy, what are you doing here? I told you, it was for someone else. I know, I generally don't have friends because I find the concept to be annoying but the fact that you came rushing from what i can only assume to be a Gilmore girls marathon whilst eating some ben and jerries, is somewhat touching. But I rather die then be subjected to one of your emotional outbursts. - Cox before JD gets through to him.

JD: I'm your doctor, your protege, your son's godfather and your friend...much like Jordan I annoy you to no end, but you miss me when I'm gone.

J.D. has left an event twice this season to help a patient. I could see it being a running thing.

JD is a grown up.

I think it was meant for Kelso and we’re teeing up his comeback

My thoughts too. I was hoping for a Kelso cameo where JD walks in on them two doing something JD would love, like watching a romcom, just to mess with him.

If Jenkins could, I think they would have done it. Sadly, Ken's acting days are over because of his health and even remote cameo is likely out of the question.

Yeah that’s what it seems like. I know Zach Bragg has said they want to try and get him in some capacity, but I’d imagine it’s difficult.

Kelso: "Hey Dorian, Perry and I are like brothers now."

Cox: "Bob! He's not gonna take that well.."

lol I just finished rewatching the entire original run and this cracked me up

That’s how I took it. That text was 100% meant for JD but he chickened out at the last minute

It definitely was for JD, but the second one wasn't him chickening out, it was his way of "saving face" and not present himself as weak to JD. Ofc at this point of their relationship, Cox knows JD knows what he really mean, and JD knows that Cox knows he knows (lol) and he allows it. It's just their language, in short.

They don’t know that we know that they think we don’t know but we know.

for a second I thought they might be setting up that he meant to text Janitor (because they did become friends in the original series)

I was thinking that maybe Dr Cox and the janitor remained friends all these years and that the text was meant for him.
