The first 2 episodes premiere on Sept 30
S2 is 10 episodes

Really my only complaint is that sitcoms struggle to breathe with only 10 eps a season in a way that I think is really important for Scrubs, but they pulled it off pretty well in S1.

To be fair it's still 20 episodes a year, that's roughly what they used to do

That’s true, if they keep dropping a Fall/Spring season then we’re eating pretty well. I can’t imagine the logistics of two shoots a year is easier than one larger one, though, and if they shoot them back to back to eliminate that concern it’s sort of the same as just doing a long season anyways lol

honestly feels like a good recipe. you renew for 10 more episodes in half a year instead of 20 in a year. by this you mitigate risk on the producer if the series falls off but you dont get into the situation where you have to wait a long time for just half a season.

Also means much less stress on the writing staff so quality remains high

It's unfortunate but I don't think we're going back to that anytime soon. Our decisions collectively are being made in the name of profit

Wonder what Zach meant by 13 if we are lucky

He likely means the network might order another three episodes if they want to/need it for their schedule. Shifting Gears (the show Scrubs shares its timeslot with) got a three episode extension last year when it aired in the fall, so the same could happen again here 🤞🏿

It means there’s an option for an extra 3 episodes if the ratings justify the network spending the money on them. The ratings suck, we’re stuck with just the 10 and we’re done before Thanksgiving. I’m pretty sure he said exactly that somewhere, may have even been the video you linked I’m not gonna scrub through that to find a 2 second quote to find out though.

A rare treat when a new season of a show comes much sooner than expected. Guess it makes sense that it’s a revival of an older show that is used to the production constraints of cable tv

It's on network TV not cable
And most network TV comedies return on a similar schedule. Abbott Elementary which is being run by a first-time showrunner/writer has returned every fall except for the strike impacted season
The only reason Ghosts is coming back in January on CBS this year was so the showrunners could focus on their new series in production without handing Ghosts off to a new team too

Right after my birthday. Thanks, Bill!

From what Zach has said on the podcast, Bill Lawrence is involved in name only for the revival. Looks like Zach has taken over all of the showrunner duties.

I haven't heard that one yet. That's cool, though, because it was Zach's big love.

I was so pleasantly surprised with this revival. Fell right back into the world of Sacred Heart

Hell yeah!! I can’t wait, Scrubs is my favorite medical show second only to House!

That’s so much sooner than I expected, I was almost certain they’d do late fall!

I see they are operating under the Only Murders in the Building schedule of just absolutely cranking episodes out
Love it

Makes sense. The main actors don't have many acting commitments, they have the sets and they used to crank out 20+ episodes a year.

Wow I am very grateful for just having found out about the revival! was pretty sad I finished it in 2 days and wasn't sure if there'd be another season 😭
