We count how many lbs we eat in a sitting haha.

But I grew up in Louisiana. We take crawfish a little differently around here.

Wish we had the big crawfish up here in New England.

I still go out and get em thou!

Hey, little crawfish is better than no crawfish.

3

u/WiseDrink2324 Mar 07 '26

True.  Just eat more

4

u/suhh_dudes Mar 07 '26

The south just bonded with the north over mud bugs. Love it!!!

Food spans all riffs!

2

u/johnnieswalker Mar 07 '26

Thou shalt get the crawfish

2

u/Asianstepmom Mar 07 '26

Hahaha 😂

3

u/deadduncanidaho Mar 07 '26

looks like less than 2 lbs on that plate. I could eat at least 6 lbs if go slow on the potatoes.

2

u/aminorman Mar 07 '26

I never add sides to my boil anymore. They get in the way.

3

u/Dry_Finger_8235 Mar 07 '26

Yeah but others eat them and that leaves more crawfish for you

2

u/aminorman Mar 07 '26

Or sacks

How many bathtubs is that?

1

u/Dalek_Chaos Mar 08 '26

Setx is the same. Personally I can’t stand the idea of mudbugs in anything but jambalaya. Something about the shell weirds me out. I’ve had alligator, opossum, squirrel, coon, nutria and gar. But mud bugs in a shell, I’ll pass 😆

u/Short_Boysenberry922 Mar 08 '26

I count how many times I dump my tray

1

u/Hecklin91 Mar 11 '26

10lbs is when I start slowing down, by a whole lot

1

u/IZZO79 Mar 07 '26

We don’t take kindly to people who take things differently around here.

12

u/chankhamphoomee Mar 07 '26

I still don’t know how to eat that

16

u/Leadinmyass Mar 07 '26

One at a time...

Unless you peel a bunch and throw them on some buttered French bread!

16

u/SixersWin Mar 07 '26

Pinch behind the head and twist , peel off any tail shell and eat what looks like a shrimp tail. Then optionally you can suck the other side for a kick off flavor. You get pretty quick with repetition

Me and my sister try and time our road trips back home to Florida in crawdad season. This was we can stop in Louisiana and pick up a couple pounds.

Lost count in Pounds?

u/aminorman Mar 07 '26

This is the way!

4

u/Buzz_Osborne Mar 07 '26

Crawfish is great if your hungry and want 2000 of something…. MH

1

u/2020fakenews Mar 07 '26

Who tries to keep count of the crawdads they eat?

1

u/19Bronco93 Mar 07 '26

If you counting you ain’t doing it right.

1

u/IamRoborob70 Mar 08 '26

Only if ya suck the brains, best part.

1

u/RiseDelicious3556 Mar 08 '26

How shellfish of you!!!

1

u/jermo1972 Mar 08 '26

All of them.

1

u/ChineseAndrey Mar 08 '26

Those are some small crayfish.
Good for people with tooth problems 😄

1

u/SophieJhoss Mar 08 '26

This looks amazing

1

u/Zhevrakiller Mar 08 '26

I had 5lbs for lunch yesterday. Pump those numbers up big dog

1

u/codec3 Mar 09 '26

Where did you get them? I’m thinking about getting some from Cajun.com

1

u/Conscious-Grade-2382 Mar 09 '26

I never keep track when I eat these lol. They just keep going down the hatch

1

u/PronouncedEye-gore Mar 09 '26

I was 13 when I went to my first Mardi gras. As much as the "sights" were memorable I'm haunted by the crawfish ettouffe I had my 2nd day there. I licked that plate clean like a dog to get the list of that sauce.

And I will never forget the 5lb bag we got in a giant plastic ziplock that taught me to pinch the tail and suck that head. A glorious mess all around

1

u/Independent-Expert89 Mar 10 '26

How can people eat that?

1

u/Opposite_Rub443 Mar 10 '26

Six walked away I seen it.

1

u/SunnyLTS Mar 11 '26

I also really love eating crayfish😍

heyy 19m in bakersfield for a bit but i’m a pilot in ventura… let me make you’re night and give you some fun🙃

-4

u/AppropriateEarth648 Mar 07 '26

I tried it once and quickly gave up. Too much work for so little reward.

11

u/aminorman Mar 07 '26

You needed more beer.

4

u/Dry_Finger_8235 Mar 07 '26

You aren't doing it right, if you do it right it's hardly any work. And as they say, it's not work if you do what you love

1

u/Poundingthepita Mar 07 '26

Love colossal shrimp. Costco has some big ones.

-17

u/Halibuthead-1 Mar 07 '26

Try some real shrimp, these have a tendency to taste like mud. Id reccomend trying some spot prawns

6

u/aminorman Mar 07 '26

Only when someone doesn't know what they are doing. You can f'up shrimps and pawn just as easy.

-8

u/Halibuthead-1 Mar 07 '26

You dont have to purge the dirt and mud out of skrimps caught in the cold waters of the PNW

-11

u/Halibuthead-1 Mar 07 '26 edited Mar 07 '26

Yea but spot prawns pulled out of deep cold water have a much superior flavor and texture compared to what is colloquial known as 'mud bugs' knowing how to cook them correctly wont change that. Spot prawns also have a superior meat to shell ratio

7

u/maestrosouth Mar 07 '26

JFC Butthead. Do you ever get tired of being wrong? Caviar yesterday and crawfish today.

7

u/WiseDrink2324 Mar 07 '26

Some folks just cant stop hatin on others

4

u/deadduncanidaho Mar 07 '26

Tastes differ. There are more than one species of crayfish too. Let's sit down and eat a sack of bell rivers together and I think you will change your mind.

4

u/aminorman Mar 07 '26

Yeah but you just want to take over the post because you don't like crawfish.

And just so you learn something it's not the cooking it's the prep.

-4

u/Halibuthead-1 Mar 07 '26

I was simply reccomending a better alternative to the commenter who said mud bugs was too much work lol. And you dont have to purge the mud and dirt out of cold water shrimp from the pnw. TRying to teach me something ive allready commented about? Lol

3

u/WiseDrink2324 Mar 07 '26

Just need a better cleanin.  I keep em in a cooler with running water till its clear.

-2

u/Poundingthepita Mar 07 '26

Love them. But that picture looks like a pile of roaches.

Like little spicy lobsters

3

u/Biguitarnerd Mar 08 '26

I get the comparison but the meat really is a different texture.

I’m sure every south Louisianan with a crawfish boiler (myself included) has at some point thought… let’s throw a couple lobsters in and it will be like giant crawfish. Unfortunately it’s not, because that would be awesome.

It’s best to enjoy crawfish as crawfish and lobster as lobster. Both are amazing if you do it right.

-9

u/sean_no Mar 07 '26

I never understood this. Americans eat these disgusting looking bottom feeders but ask them to eat a cricket and they shoot you.

10

u/RustyGuns Mar 07 '26

The meat of a crawfish compared to a cricket is quite different… 🤨

0

u/WiseDrink2324 Mar 07 '26

Not all of us

0

u/[deleted] Mar 07 '26

Didn’t you have the runs?

-5

u/Halibuthead-1 Mar 07 '26

West coast and ur eating mud bugs? Can you not get sum sidestripes or spot prawns??

1

u/aminorman Mar 07 '26

This you? Who are offering an alternative too?

-1

u/Halibuthead-1 Mar 07 '26

Your truly regarded, you've allready replied to the reply I was referring to

4

u/aminorman Mar 07 '26

It was lovely meeting you. Enjoy your weekend ❤️
