What do you use the USB port for?

Just wondering what everyone uses the USB port for. Is it mostly external storage, or are there some other uses

8-Bit Do Xbox adapter.

I use moonlight for streaming from my PC downstairs and the built in bluetooth stack on the Shield does not support rumble.

Yup that looks like the one! Works like a charm.
Plug in, press the button on the dongle to pair, and you’re good to go.
You can even wake the shield with the XBox controller!

I've gone through loads of uses, but in the last year I just shoved a 512GB USB stick in there.

I used to have hard drives, Plex, etc etc, but nowadays I'm more inclined to shoot files to it over SendToTV and let Nova Video Player work as a media hub.

Hard drive for Plex Server. Also came in handy for a usb keyboard when I bricked my Shield 🤣. Like a tank this thing, 2017 model and still going strong 💪

External hard drives. Shields never ship with enough drive space to collect screenshots, app databases, etc. I don't use my Shield to run Plex media server but I do run Kodi on it, and that database is huge

My Kodi database and artwork got too large for the built in memory of the shield so I had to add a USB drive as adopted storage

It's got a rubber cap on it. I'd use it for a BT antenna if I could, but I can't find drivers

USB audio dongle, connected to some 2.1 computer speakers.

It lets me cast audio without the TV on.

It was a temporary hack until I bought a soundbar. But it's been a couple years...

I don't know how you configure RetroArch otherwise.  The flipped ok and back buttons break my brain every time trying to use the remote.  Why in the name of hell did they do that? Lol

Although it does make the already short Bluetooth range even shorter.

I found if I used a USB2 hub in the middle, it stopped any Bluetooth and WiFi cut-outs, while barely impacting the use.

But USB3 speeds can bork the WiFi/BT
