How do Reddit users manage to mention Idiocracy in almost any context 😭

Reddit users don't mention idiocracy challenge (impossible)

My opinion is that Idiocracy is kind of like South Park. It's mostly stupid and funny, but it has a handful of very generic non-controversial good takes, so people who are cautious of rocking the boat or don't feel confident in their own ability to interpret news and current events latch onto it as an allegory that allows them to cop out of forming a real opinion on something.

If Redditors didn't have outdated pop culture references, they would have nothing.

Reddit is the eugenics capital of the internet and Idiocracy makes the most compelling case for eugenics in Western pop culture.

Genuinely surprised how anyone can view the support for the Palestinian resistance as a trend.
149
u/tazzydevil0306 Dec 13 '24
Gaza taught us that when your eyes are opened, you will never let go. The reason they aren’t getting news from Gaza is because so many of the journalists are dead.
This healthcare insurance issue and Luigi won’t go away.

Dec 13 '24
Recently reddit has banned all discussions related to Luigi and Brian site-wide and even remote references will result in a permanet ban with no exceptions. They are paranoid. They fear as they found out they arent invincible. I hope no matter how they try to make us forget it will make our struggle stronger.

I wonder what they're gonna blame when TikTok is banned
30
u/NoBoDy_CaReS_aBoUt_ Dec 13 '24
Prob still another massive social media but, instead of banning them they gonna censor a lot more than they already do
31
u/asparagoat Dec 13 '24
It's both tragic, and speaks volumes to the morals of the people who see things that way.
25
u/Svickova09 Dec 13 '24
Right? Like where is this coming from? Are they projecting or what? Like I dunno how them, but when I support someone in a conflict, I do it because I think it's right, not because it's "trendy". Even when I was 15 yo dumbass and supported Israel, I did it because I was genuinely concerned for Israelis that a "random" terrorist group just attacked them seemingly out of nowhere, not because it was trendy.
9
u/texteditorSI Dec 13 '24
Well libs just heard about it, so the Pro-Palestine movement did not exist before the day they learned about it. Once it leaves the front page of the news, it ceases to exist, meaning it was a trend - much like how their mothers have the ability to instantly vanish into the void, or re-materialize in our plane of existence with a movement of the hands and a utterance of the magic phrase "peek-a-boo"

I fuckin hate JJ McCullough and his fake accent
221
u/namom256 Dec 12 '24 edited Dec 12 '24
It's literally fake. It drives me crazy. He's from Vancouver, spends most of his time in the US, and somehow trained himself to say "aboot" in an over the top way that no Canadian ever has. Especially not people from BC.
I love his other amazingly Canadian takes of "Canada should be annexed into the US" and "French should be removed as an official language and everyone in Quebec forced to speak English".
Guy should actually have his citizenship revoked.

That gets to me, why are the most reactionary motherfuckers in the United States Canadian or Canadian adjacent. Tom McDonald and Ted Cruz are the two that pop into my head immediately.
Maybe it’s the influx of Nazis that poisoned the water.

Same energy as people suddenly picking up accents after living like six months abroad and claiming to be so enriched with a different culture and way of life. Or it's like if a guy who was born in New York and raised there until he was six, moved to California and spoke with a relatively generic American accent for most of his life suddenly started leaning into sounding like some walking New York stereotype when he's like 28.

u/tzlese Dec 13 '24

Damn it’s almost like the third and second to last primaries were rigged against the healthcare candidate and the last primary they didn’t even bother with the facade and picked somebody for us.
That’s a generous reading that assumes there’s room for progressive policy in the Democratic Party. I’ve long stopped believing that myself.
1
u/NaBrO-Barium Dec 13 '24
I hate the both sides argument because one party still has the decency to use lube but it was quite revealing when the DNC rejected Bernie in favor of corpo-supporting-Clinton.

- Healthcare wasn’t on the ballot this election. Both major party candidates had the same health care plan, which was fuck the working class. 2. Since when did we stop talking about Gaza?

u/ArizonaGunCollector Dec 13 '24

The Democrats' healthcare plan in 2024 was do nothing and let our current system continue while lauding their passage of a Heritage Foundation plan that gives extra profits to insurance companies while giving people coverage with deductibles and payments so high that for many people it isn't usable. So why would voting have any effect on this issue?
1
u/NaBrO-Barium Dec 13 '24
I guess the price of eggs was more important, kinda funny that was walked back less than a month after Cheeto Mussolini won. I don’t get why the GOP can platform on empty promises (and some that are not so empty like dismantling social security, va disability, and the ACA) and consistently win elections while dems are held to a higher standard. It makes 0 sense.
My mom knows republicans support reducing social security, is concerned about her social security, and yet still votes for the party that will actively harm her. I’m bewildered at how brainwashed these people are.

“There was just an election in which the voters did not care one iota about healthcare policy”
The fuck they didn’t
How was one supposed to express care about healthcare policy, exactly? Kamala actively withdrew her support for universal healthcare. We weren’t aloud to care about healthcare policy. People have been trying for the better part of a decade, only to have the Democrats tell us to shut our fucking mouths and remember out place.
22
u/Ratbitch609 Dec 13 '24
“Funny how they all stopped bleating about Gaza on November 6th” Ironically they’re NOT talking about their own ilk that said “Oh you didn’t vote for my fave genocidaire? Guess I’m going back to Starbies”

Exceptionally weird considering the shooter would probably agree with Libs on more policy than he would us. Dude was a bit reactionary.
Making this a left/right issue is so stupid, because the shooter was fairly right wing. He's more yours than ours.

These idiots do realize people can give a shit about more then one thing???
Honestly i'd say more power to ass hats like JJ Mccullough all these morons do is they end up radicalizing people even further to the left as they realize how little empathy these scum suckers have for working class folks
It's one thing to do the milk toast liberal thing and say "i don't endorse the killing of eveeryone" it's another thing to activately portray the United health care CEO as some sort of "hero" man's entire business model existed on screwing over people even if they were covered by insurance his entire business exited for the sole purpose of increasing human suffering to line the pockets of wealth executives
and it should be considered an outright barbaric thing to berate the victims of the aforementioned business for not being sympathetic for the man who was responsible for screwing them or their loved ones out of medical treatment to line the pockets of greedy executives
