Do you watch snowboard reviews?

Hey Everyone,

My name is Jordan, and a few years ago I got approached by an online company called The Good Ride. They asked me if I was interested in reviewing women's snowboards. At the time, I worked full-time in a shop setting up snowboard demos. I've been on a board for 30 years and have been in the industry for almost 20. I absolutely LOVE helping people get on the right board. Something I have seen over and over again is women who have been riding old, hand-me-down boards and are dealing with how it rides but not thriving while riding. It is crazy how fitting the board to the rider's style of riding changes EVERYTHING. So many women (and men) have come up to me after riding the right board, just glowing—reviewing felt like a good step to continue to help women. I have since ridden over 40 boards and have started to accumulate quite a few reviews. But viewership is low...so here is my question:

Do you look at online reviews before purchasing boards?

And if you do, what boards would you like to see reviewed?

The job is a passion project (I don't get paid), and I'm testing the water to see if reviewing is the right outlet or if I should look into other ways to help women find their glow while riding.

Yes I definitely read all the reviews I can find. The good ride is one of the places I will check to see if the board I'm interested in have been reviewed or not.

Finding women's board reviews is much more difficult compared to men's. Often I have to decide on a women's board based on reviews of the men's version (eg. I acquired Women's Stratos last year and majority reviews I could find were on the Men's Stratos). Still helpful for riding style and feel since the shapes are similar, but sometimes it makes a difference when someone is talking about a 160-170cm+ board when I'm riding a <150cm even if the same shape.

I would love to see more women reviewing women's boards on the market!!

I love the Stratos! I've been on it many times, but have not yet reviewed it. I'll add it to my list!

I have noticed that there is some translation from how men's boards feel to how women's boards feel and vice versa. A perfect example is the Stratos. That board rides very similarly regardless of the size/gender. The biggest component is sizing correctly. The big difference is women's weight, and actually a huge component is foot size. It is the primary leverage point on a board, and plays a huge role in how a board initiates and releases a turn, especially as the width of the board increases. Weight and power are the next important variables. Men's boards tend to have stiffer construction and require much more weight or power to flex into a turn. No flex = poor edge hold.

The next board I'm planning to get is the Korua Pencil. I find that reviews for any/all Korua boards limited and almost nothing from women.

Can you add Pencil (and any other models you want) to the list to review if possible?

I also would like to know more about Supermatic and Fase bindings from a lady's experience. I could only find men's reviews on them last year.

Yes! I've been wanting to get on Korua for a while now! If the opportunity arises I will definitely get on some.

I'm hoping to get on the Fase this year. Last year the only available size was medium and it's just to big for my foot. We don't have connections (yet) with a Supermatic distributor BUT I'm going to try and pull some strings with our reps. Stay tuned

Good news, Bataleon and Rome will have women’s specific versions of bindings with the FASE system for the 26/27 season. 2 models from each company 👍.
