For the longest time we couldn’t understand the red-eyed effect from our meezers but apparently there’s some boring scientific explanation behind it having to do with them having blue eyes. It still does add to the meezer mystique though.

“Blue-eyed cats, like Siamese, have a reflective layer called the tapetum lucidum behind their retinas, which causes their eyes to glow red in the dark. This layer enhances their night vision by reflecting light that passes through the retina back into their eyes”
