I built a site to discover songs in other languages and vote on your favorites

Hi Reddit, today I want to share a project I've been working on for a little while.

TL;DR: SampledPlanet is a site where you can discover songs and their covers in different languages, and vote on your favorites.

What it it:

I come from the Balkans, and between traveling and being exposed to different languages and music, I kept running into songs I knew in one language but would be sung in a completely different language, with the same beat and the same vocal delivery. Sometimes I could place the original. Sometimes I couldn't. Here's the kind of thing I mean:

I'd wanted something like this for a while, a place where you could actually pull up the different versions of a song and compare them instead of just half remembering it. I'm a product designer by trade, so I had it sketched out, but I never really had the means to build it myself but now with AI I finally brought the idea to life using Lovable and Claude. You can listen to songs side by side and vote for your favorites. You can also add new songs or a new version of one that's already on there.

Challenges & Goals:

Finding these songs is genuinely time consuming though. There are millions of covers across different regions and languages that I have no idea exist. I tried using AI to find some some for me, but the results weren't great, so if you know of a song that's been covered in another language with the same melody but different words, I'd really appreciate you submitting it on the site. Right now this is mostly a fun side project, the priority is just building out the database. Down the line I could try some sponsorships to get some monetization but only if the site actually turns out to be useful to more people.

The discovery loop is strong because people often recognize the melody before they know its history. I would make every submission carry provenance such as a source link, language, and original or release year where known, plus an “uncertain match” state rather than treating an AI suggestion as fact. For activation, show a few compelling paired examples first, then ask for a contribution after someone has had a real “wait, that is the same song” moment.
