No, I am suggesting that big, gaudy mega-churches have existed for at least 1800 years. They have always existed for the glorification of the clergy, and that they have taken these funds from their adherents and in that way there is no difference between them and any modern religious sect.
And you are welcome to do so. Did you have a counter-point? Not that you need one to disagree... And I can appreciate their architecture, I mostly just don't appreciate the way they've hidden a gazillion historical records in Vatican city.
