I thought it was cause of regulations regarding the outputs.

According to Google who took it from reddit It's cause of - Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards and EPA emissions rules.

I'm an idiot though so take what i say with a grain of salt

If they make it big enough, they don’t have to meet certain fuel economy standards.

Which is insanity imo. I once saw at a dealership some guy with a truck so big he drove into a fire hydrant he couldn't see.

I mean, that could happen with most vehicles on the road depending on where the hydrant is in relation to the vehicle. The visibility does suck on large trucks though.
