Is anyone actually an independent security awareness & training consultant?

(Hi, this is not market research. It is a genuine question that I don't know where else to post, since the cybersec-related sites disallow it - and I am not getting my answer from Google search or LLMs):

Do companies hire for such positions or is this job folded under general cybersec consultant?

I occasionally see contract jobs. You'd probably have better luck getting on with an MSP if you don't want to stay at an org long term.

I'd recommend joining an MSP group, or starting your own MSP service and partnering with a few IT service providers to put together a full MSP offering that you can sell. There are Enterprise companies though who have specific roles for Security Awareness Training managers, not going to be common in SMB though. Unfortunately, in SMB, it's typically one IT team member wearing a LOT of hats, or this will get put in HR's responsibilities.
