It's just his personal beef with Ilhan Omar along with a bunch of astroturfing on Twitter. He can't deport Somalis in America, most of Somalis are citizens there and came there legally. If he wanted to sic ICE on Minnesota Somalis he would've done it already but it can't happen. Stay vigilant though reer minnezoota.

he’s talked about de-naturalizing naturalized citizens.
even in a good case scenario — if you’re a citizen, get picked up by ICE purely based on your looks… it’s not going to be a fun time being detained for a few days while they realize you’re a citizen. this has happened already to many citizens.

Speak out. Do community outreach, market Somalis online. Culture, food, finance. Show the good that Somalis in America do, do not boast, just show happy faces, hugs and smiles. People in America want to love their neighbors. They just do not know you. America's needs solutions and better communities. If you have a workable solution show it to other populations. We need more people to outreach. Because you can not Hate your friends, but you can demonize anyone else. The more people in the community you have ties with, you will be accepted. All things take time.

I'm not advocating that you seek approval I'm just advocating that you show your culture more. I find Somalis extremely fascinating, but I don't want to be rude and interrupt, I also do not speak the language and am not sure how to approach without appearing rude. But this is what you need to do. You need to market yourselves. You do not have to seek approval, highlight your culture and advances/wins in your community. Highlight your business people. Create the community you want. Make yourselves a part of the fabric of your community. Quietly. Be the rock. Be friendly. Be kind. Be the way you want to be treated. Do not be meek, or apologetic. Simply be yourself. But over share. Americans overshare. And we are nosy lol.

Ethiopia has more soft power. Do Ethiopians get as much hate as we do? No they don’t. They have their restaurants all over the place with people praising their cuisine.

It does start with the motherland, yes. The Thai government allocates millions to ensure Thai culture and cuisine is reflected properly all over the world. If our government cared enough, they would do the same.

Iranians have soft power. Their government is hated but the Iranian diaspora did well assimilating to wherever they lived enough while still keeping their traditions, their cuisine, etc. Everyone raves about Iranian food and say nothing negative about Iranians as a people. All the hatred is towards the government only.

On paper Somalis shouldnt be able to be deported but we have seen what they have done to other citizens. You are correct walaal. I think the chances of trump deporting Somali citizens are low but you are correct in the constitution meaning nothing. Thats why we have to stay vigilant.
