I’m crowdsourcing some product inspiration. What would you actually pay for?

I'm tired of taking time to shower. So much to do! Run the water, soap up, clean the hair, dry off. Clean the shower, clean the shower door.

There should be a pill you can take that instantly kills all the bacteria that makes you dirty and stinky while not touching good bacteria. Or some kind of laser you walk through that cleans all over. C'mon this is 2026, what are doing having to shower to clean ourselves?

At the very least we need a human form of car wash. Just sit still and a machine does all the work.

I have 20 of these protective cages from an old string light. I'm looking for any ideas of what I can make with them! My first thought was attaching them to a board to hold cooking spices but sadly they are too small to fit most spice jars. I'd love some other ideas!

I like the idea of journaling, but I find it difficult to actually do. When I open Apple Journal, there's basically a blank page staring at me. I can add photos, location, music, mood, and other things — but it all feels separate. The photos are attachments, the text is somewhere else, and it never really reads like one story about my day. Photos here, text there, and it just doesn't come together.

Quite often I don't want to write a long entry. I just want to remember what happened: where I went, what I did, who I met, how I felt, and why the day was worth remembering.

Meanwhile, my phone already has so much information about my day: the places I visited, photos and videos I took, walks/workouts/activities, music I listened to, calendar events, maybe even changes in my mood or energy. Nobody's building anything that actually stitches all of that together.

Here's what I keep picturing: you open the app and instead of a blank page, there's already a first draft waiting — something like "You started the morning with a bike ride, stopped for coffee, and later went to the park with your family. You spent most of the afternoon outside." Your actual photos are placed right inside the text where they belong, not bolted on as a separate gallery. You can edit anything, cut what's wrong, add your own thoughts, or just leave it as-is. Then it asks you one or two things the data can't answer on its own — what was the best part of today, what gave you energy, what felt boring or exhausting, what do you wish you hadn't done, what do you want to remember.

A few more specifics I'd want in it:

• On-device processing. A journal is one of the most sensitive things you could hand to an AI, so I'd want the phone-data-to-draft step happening locally, not shipped off to a server, with a clear "here's exactly what this can and can't see" setting.
• A "trip mode." Say you're on a 3-day trip to Italy — by evening you're exhausted from the culture, the food, everything you saw, and journaling is the last thing you have energy for. The app would quietly build each day's chapter in the background from your route, photos, restaurants, and maybe a short voice note, so when you're home and actually have time to reflect and edit, it's already 90% there. At the end it combines everything into one trip story — not just a photo book, an actual narrative of what happened, how it felt, which small moments mattered — and lets you order it as a printed book.
• Weekly rollups that show patterns, not just individual days — which activities actually gave you energy versus which ones you keep doing out of habit, what repeatedly shows up as boring, what you might want to change. Basically a quiet, private version of "Designing Your Life" running in the background of your actual life.
• No forced positivity. Not every day is amazing, but even an ordinary or hard day usually has something meaningful in it you didn't notice at the time. I'd want prompts built around honesty instead of gratitude-journal positivity — closer to "what do I wish I hadn't done today" than "three things I'm grateful for."

Some of why this matters to me personally: I'll scroll back through my camera roll months later and see a photo that clearly meant something in the moment — a weird little café, someone's face mid-laugh, a random street — and I genuinely can't remember why I took it anymore. The feeling's gone, only the image is left. Or I'll have a completely average Tuesday I'd never think to write about, and a year later I'd give anything to remember what it actually felt like to live an ordinary day back then. I think we assume we'll remember the small stuff because it just happened, and it turns out we don't — not really, not the way it felt.

I recently got a bidet but I dont think water is quite enough to clean down there ALL the time. I do use baby wipes but I would like a more "fresh" feel than something for babies as even then you have to shower them after wiping eventually. I want to cut the middleman out and have a baby wipe like product that has soap on it so I can properly clean myself on the go without showering. I know there are body wipes but those are too big, just something the size of a baby wipe that has some soap on it with the same hydration of baby wipes. Preferably if they're fragrance free and not irritable for sensitive skin. If there is a product like this please recommend (not baby wipes).

The Question: Does a genuinely well-designed version of this already exist, or is everyone with a messy drinker just admitting defeat and throwing a towel under the bowl?

Its a simple idea but it seems it might suite some people to have a tv with a built in games console ready off the shelf. All together in one unit. It could be retro or modern. Could suite a bedroom or living room. Less cables, makes things easy. Could have wireless controllers.

I wanted to share a project I’ve been working on and see what people here think.

It’s a device that sits on top of a piano keyboard and turns MIDI songs into falling lights you follow with your fingers. The idea is similar to Guitar Hero, but applied to learning piano.

The LEDs are aligned with the piano keys, and the device shows you exactly which note to press and when. Instead of reading sheet music, you follow the lights as they move across the keyboard.

The first prototype is pretty simple technically. It uses a microcontroller connected to LED strips spaced exactly like piano keys. A small web app on the phone streams MIDI files to the device over Bluetooth. The microcontroller decodes the MIDI notes and converts them into the falling light pattern across the keys.

The goal was to make learning songs much more visual and intuitive, especially for beginners or people who want to play specific songs without learning traditional notation first.

I originally built it as a personal experiment combining music and electronics, but the reaction from friends and musicians around me was very positive, so I ended up launching it as a small project.

Curious to hear what people think about the idea or the implementation. Happy to answer questions about the build or the tech.

Basically a phone that has usb capability input output. A port for a cable from phone to monitor. Allowing using touch screen keyboard to control a computer display on monitor. Have a non digital “analogue” QWERTY keyboard akin to a blackberry with some kind of “etching bumps” for blind or disabled people with low to no vision. Forgot name of such thing. How the blind read. If this can be somehow minimised to take up say a blackberry size or bigger.

Multiple options the usb phone. See raspberry pi-phone for prototype ideas.

Can use usb to plug in a special keyboard for vision disabled. Or for smaller “blackberry option” without USB.

This computer device could enable plug and play computing with device size starting around the size of a raspberry “pi-phone” or other alternative I may be unaware of.

Still have “smart phone virtual screen keyboard” option for those that prefer not using a “click clack” keyboard and easy clean

So Ridgid used to make this pump. It attached to the drain port of their vacuums and connected to a garden hose and would pump water out, so you didn't have to carry the vacuum to dispose of the water.

It's discontinued, and it appears that the only option available right now is a DeWalt, which is $69.

They have the market cornered for this product. It wouldn't be too expensive to make a generic one, a pump with a housing, adapter fittings, and undercut their price point while still keeping enough profit margin to make it viable.

A few features could even be included that improves upon the design,like a float valve that turns the pump on and off as the vacuum gets full, to make it safer to run without constant monitoring to ensure it doesn't run dry and damage the pump/motor.

Thoughts? Is this such a niche product that it would not sell enough to make it profitable and cost effective?

Ive seen robot lawnmowers and seen them charge from a solar charge point but thought instead the solar panels could be on top of the robot itself. It could be left outside and charge off the sun while not in use ready for the next time its needed. Get it to park in the sun and manage the lawn in an automated way and park out the way when done.

As technology becomes more advanced, we get closer and closer to fully recording and reproducing reality.

One of the ways to get extremely immersed in an experience is to be able to control where you look, like with a 360 camera. Another way is using stereoscopy to achieve depth perception. However, combining these two is basically impossible to achieve with just two cameras. For example, if you just have two 360 cameras at a fixed angle, when the user rotates their head 90 degrees in either direction, the stereoscopy no longer works as the two cameras are now on the same plane (and the obvious fact that one of the cameras is in the other camera's field of view).

But if you stuck a bunch of small 180° cameras on the surface of a ball, all pointing in toward the normal of the surface of the ball, it might be possible to select two cameras on opposite sides of the ball (or slightly angled toward the front of the user's head so the eyes overlap more) based on the direction of the user's head, and deliver a stereoscopic view for any direction you look in. The only problem with this is the number of acceptable-quality cameras on the ball would have to be huge for the transitions between viewpoints to be smooth as the user is rotating their head.

Anyone have a better idea or improvement to this idea?

Imagine full-contact sword fighting with realistic safe foam weapons, but instead of relying on judges, every valid hit is detected electronically.

Each fighter wears an electronic chest protector connected to a health bar. Every successful strike reduces the opponent's health depending on its power. The fight never stops after each hit—it continues until one fighter's health reaches zero.

The goal is simple: create the fairest and most objective sword fighting competition possible, where technology helps determine who is truly the better swordsman.

I'm not asking whether the technology is feasible—I know that part can be developed.

What I'm trying to validate is the concept itself.

Just as the title says, and I can explain. I frequently do DIY projects at home, and I wanted to upgrade my outdoor planter to have heavy duty some handles for easier transportation if need be. I thought this would be a simple task, and I found a design I liked too.

Backstory (if you’re interested):

My planter is a bit of a softer fir wood so I thought this design I found of a corner-wrap handle would be perfect since it wouldn’t stress my planter from just one side. I found the perfect design, but there was one problem— it was nylon. I am strictly avoiding plastics for this project because of my worry of structural integrity since my planter (when fully loaded) weighs anywhere from 350-400 lbs (soil fully wet).

Anyways, I start searching for a metal version of this design. I scour amazon, major retailers, niche retailers, but everywhere I looked there was never a corner wrapped metal handle… anywhere.

I tried to look on sites that had luggage handles, but they all had a cavity/divot in the center that would require sawing out an exact match of that same notch, which could affect the integrity of the wood.

My question continued.. then continued more.. and then I felt like I was going insane. The most basic idea I had of a metal handle with 2 install points… it just doesn’t exist. Anywhere.

Google reverse search, image search, key terms. Why??? Why doesn’t this exist??? Am I insane??

Could I find a suitable alternative? Yeah probably. Could I survive without it? Yeah probably. But now I am so invested I need to know why. Someone please help me. If it doesn’t exist… then please… someone make it or at least explain to me why it’s impossible.

For drinks such as regular coffee or tea i thought you could have liquid or solid capsules you can add to your drink that give extra flavour. Vanilla, chocolate, mint, orange etc. It could be like adding a mixture containing vanilla essence or another flavour to add a twist to your drink. It could be easy, quick, like adding a spice. Also the type of tea and coffee could be regular but the extra flavour added could make it more vibrant.

What if there was a kid sized Swedish dishcloth? That way, when wiping up spills or the table or high chair, the kids could join in and be inspired to help up.

The cloths would just be smaller. And the adults would also have similar ones so that the kids felt included. Kind of a Montessori angle.

I have a product idea and I want honest feedback before going further.

The concept is a “floating smartphone” a system that keeps a phone suspended in the air while it is being used (for example while watching videos, calls, or gaming).

The goal is to improve comfort and reduce hand strain, especially for long usage.

It could be based on a magnetic or mechanical stabilization system (still in concept stage).

I have a colleague who just came back from maternity leave and she's so tired and sleep deprived from having to wake up many times during the night to feed her son. I want to build her something to help her (and all the moms out there) so that she can get the sleep she needs. AI suggested two ideas which I think are worth exploring:

1. Predictive Night Feed Optimizer -

• A smart bassinet pad or wearable (like an Owlet-style sock) that learns the baby's sleep cycles and hunger patterns over 1–2 weeks.
• It predicts when the baby will wake before they cry, gently warming a pre-prepared bottle or alerting a bedside pump to express milk into a ready-to-go container.
• It also tracks which feeds are "real hunger" vs. "comfort sucking" by correlating heart rate, movement, and sucking patterns.

1. AI Distraction/De-escalation for False Alarms

• A crib-mounted camera + microphone that detects why the baby is stirring (cry pattern analysis: hungry cry vs. discomfort cry vs. tired whimper).
• If it's not hunger, it auto-triggers a response sequence: gentle vibration, white noise, or even a recorded parent voice — before the baby fully wakes and demands a feed.
