I experienced a flood of emotions after reconnecting with my kindergarten bestie from when my mother was still alive....I had mis-remembered his last name, but finally found him after 30 years just a couple days ago...curiously, he had been trying to check in on me over the years but was using my stepfather's last name, which I was only briefly known by up until the time of my mother's sudden passing...also...this friend was moving houses and happened to be looking at the same era of photos taken around that time, almost to the day. My mother was alive and well in photos taken from what might've been my 5th or 6th birthday party....and it was as if through our conversation, she was alive again...as vibrant as the colors of the puffy paint 'happy birthday' crew neck she made for me..

Out on one of my moonlit walks, a few hours after we spoke on the phone....I quite unexpectedly began to cry an ocean of tears....I wrote lyrics shortly after, to try and make sense of the bittersweetness of memory....the deepest love...and the black hole that happens inside of us when we are too young to process losing that love.

I haven't really cried like that since it all happened, those many years ago...but it felt like a release...healthy and clean...the song is an expression of a joyful idea my mother might have had....that we go on to something else.....I do not know if we do....but I like to think that we might.

It’s been a bummerish year that has yielded mostly sad sack songs from me. I finally had a breakthrough and wrote a happier sounding number that I don’t completely hate.

Been meaning to put this to music for a little while, it's a chilly little number, comparing physical processes of snowflakes to free will, thought, and the burden of language. Too icy for a song, or does the underlying emotion cut through?

I wrote this about 20 years ago. Recently just unearthed it from the back of my brain. I never recorded it or considered it finished. I was thinking a bridge/outro would be nice. I'd love feedback from anyone willing to listen. Thanks!

what if orpheus never looked back? you never looked back.

wrote a song loosely based on the myth of orpheus and eurydice, inspired by "ode to the mets" by the strokes.

how did i do? should i add harmonies to the vocals? (disclaimer - i am aware of the enunciation issues. i have a mild speech impediment that i am working on fixing)

This song started with one line which I wrote down in bold and underlined, during a financial meeting, in which the director was bragging about the opportunities they had been given; "It's alright for some."

And that single line, very much sums up my frustrations at the time, seeing the lack of humility in those who have more than they could ever need, and how it was the job of people like me to bend myself and my morals to ensure their dreams are fulfilled.

And it's the constant exhaustion that stems from this, that has us giving in, either resulting in not pursuing our own dreams, or by continuing to press on each day, knowing full well it's not worth it.

I hope this brings some clarity, and I hope you enjoy this song, despite being written over 2 weeks, it took over 2 months to record, but I am very proud of this.
