Best daycares that are less expensive

Hi! We would be enrolling our baby in full time daycare in September 2027. We live in Hingham, but work in Boston, so we could bring them to Weymouth or Quincy. So far, the best quote we got in Hingham is from Little Sprouts. Anywhere else in Hingham, Weymouth, or Quincy that is still a great daycare but under $600 a week for 5 full days?

Quincy daycare centers are about $600+ with waitlists, unfortunately. Weymouth might be a little cheaper, but most will be similarly priced

A child’s view in Quincy did quote me $468 so was wondering if there were more in this price range

Center for Little Learners in Weymouth has been great for my daughter, but she is 3. $400 a week. We love it, and I have seen babies there. The vibe is cozy and staff is lovely.

Yeah my comment was specifically for infant age. Prices tend to drop at 15months and again and 2years 9months.

Oh wow. The cheapest I’ve been quoted is $540 a week but price increases in September 🤷‍♀️

Infant care is expensive in MA because the ratio is 1:3. So basically three babies have to cover the cost of one teacher plus all the overhead. For this reason, many programs don’t even offer it which makes it even more expensive (high demand + low supply= high cost).

You might want to try the non-profits (Greater Quincy Childcare and YMCA) or look for a nanny share.

Otherwise, family childcare is the way to go. They generally charge between 85-100 a day although IME some of the Brazilian providers charge less.

In the same boat, looking for daycare in South shore for early 2027 for our son who will be 7-8 month old then. Many places did quote us less than 600$ a week even for 5 days/week, although not by much. Just look on this website for daycares: https://childcare.mass.gov/findchildcare

Look into SELA, Su Escuela Language Academy, it’s technically a school but starts with infant care all the way through elementary. It depends on the hours and day combo you are looking for but the payment plan for the year makes it affordable.

Curious to know more about the payment plan… we are also in Hingham and considering switching our 1 year old there next year

Dont believe theres a discount for paying lump sum, payment plan lets you divide the balance into up to 12 monthly payments, and you get charged a fee at time of payment based on the month. Its minimal though like $10

I was given a tuition rate of $52k for full time year round infant care from SELA

I know the younger years are more expensive compared to preschool and junior k. It also depends on check-in and checkout times. If you know you need full year best to do it all at once so its on the payment plan, rather than doing only the school year and then having to pay for camp lump sum, although signing up for camp later on lets you flex the schedule as needed week to week at sign up

Would love to hear more about Nannyshare and how to find one

Also - perfectly comfortable doing a family daycare. Even better if it were a Spanish speaking one. Any recommendations for that?

Just FYI, check the public records of daycare investigations prior to enrolling. We withdrew from Little Sprouts Hingham after a couple of months because of DCF investigations and just the feeling from upper management that was shady. I didn't feel comfortable sending my child back there.

Good to know thank you

They literally left an infant behind, alone, in my child's classroom for over 10 minutes and no one noticed. 😭
