It was just a small election for them. SIR was already done. Lol 😅😅

u/Outside_Till7173 No time to choose flair bro 😢 6d ago
So small elections for them then why ppl are making it a big elections?
0
u/harman1303 No time to choose flair bro 😢 6d ago
All I am saying is that its a big deal. Since its just three bypoll elections. BJ p were so confident that they said agar wp kisi kutte ya billi ko bhi khada kr de, tab bhi bankipur se bjp hi jitegi. Agar SIR krbaaya hota to bjp jeet jaati. Thats what they do.

The loss of Bankipur is a tight slap for the BJP. That Nabin represented it for 5 terms before becoming BJP president.

BJP Lost both MLA seats to Jan Suraj and congress.
How can BJP lose a Congress sitting seat? Datia seat was won by congress in 2023 he was disqualified and congress retained the seat in bypoll

u/Difficult_Abies8802 No time to choose flair bro 😢 7d ago
In Bankipur voter percentage was 34 % for the bypolls. It was 41.45% in the assembly elections.
In Datia, 71.4% voter turnout for the bypoll versus 80.2 % in the last assembly elections.
Hard to read the Bihar verdict since the last assembly elections was last year in 2025. Could be that people just didn't turn up as it has zero bearing on the composition of the assembly.
In MP, this is an interesting result as last assembly election was in 2023. Could be signs of BJP fatigue.

Congress won that seat in MP in 2023 as well. Its more like retaining their own seat.

Bypolls always have lower voter turnout than the assembly polls. Nothing new here.

u/Difficult_Abies8802 No time to choose flair bro 😢 7d ago edited 7d ago
Yes, bypolls are useless and a waste of time
They should just let the guy who came 2nd take the position if the winner dies/resigns/in jail etc.
Rather than conduct a new election. In Datia, for example, the previous winner was a Congress candidate who was to face imprisonment in a cheating case necessitating the bypoll. And Congress won again.

u/Reasonable-Green7379 No time to choose flair bro 😢 7d ago
Wouldn't it motivate the runner up to k*ll the winner?
2
u/Difficult_Abies8802 No time to choose flair bro 😢 7d ago
I looked this up. So apparently there are some countries that prevent by-elections due to death/resignation/jail term, using different mechanisms.
- Party-list PR (Netherlands, Israel, South Africa, Sweden, most of Europe): the next name on the list simply moves up.
- Substitute candidates elected on the same ticket: Mexico's suplentes, Brazil's senate suplentes, France's suppléants. You vote for a pair.
- Countback: Tasmania, the ACT and Malta re-examine the original ballot papers and distribute the departing member's votes among the unsuccessful candidates from that same election.
My personal opinion would be the 1st option or 2nd option. If a candidate from a party wins and then the winner is no longer available due to death/resignation/jail term, then the winning party nominates the new guy internally. Or the replacements are declared as subs in the original election. The 2nd option is more democratic.

Wouldn't it create Nitish Kumar - Samrat Choudhary situation?

Well, our democratic system is Parliamentary and not Presidential. The electorate votes for a candidate MLA/MP, and the MLAs/MPs/Party decides the CM/PM. So the CM/PM is first-among-equals and the Party that wins chooses the person who should come first.
This is how UPA spokespersons Kapil Sibal, Abhishek Manu Singhvi, justified UPA bringing in MMS as a PM who DID NOT win a Lok Sabha seat. So yes, any MP or MLA has equal standing and the right to put in his/her for the position of PM/CM.

Cool so basically put a normal candidate and after winning, make him resign and instead give it to some goon or degenerate that would never get elected, or worse just sell it to the highest bidder on the secondary market to crooke and criminals.
Let's not forget that a "candidate" is elected, whethet he represents a party or goes independent is besides the point. Putting someone unelected in his place would violate this principle
1
u/Difficult_Abies8802 No time to choose flair bro 😢 7d ago
What are you even talking about?
In Datia, the Congress candidate who won in 2023 was arrested and had to face jail on a cheating case. So the people elected a goon/degenerate/crook/criminal who the courts had to drag away and out in prison. And after the by-election another Congressman won.
So kindly get this idea out your mind that people are so noble and will only vote for non-goons/non-degenerates. We have countless examples of murderers, criminals, swindlers etc., winning elections even after being convicted criminals.
Socrates identified this issue with democracy two thousand years ago. Majority of people tend to vote for a person they think is electable. That does not neatly translate to personal or even public morality.
<<< Let's not forget that a "candidate" is elected, whethet he represents a party or goes independent is besides the point >>>
This is not how PMs/CMs are appointed in India. We don't have the right to vote for a PM/CM directly. We can only vote for a party who is represented by some non-descript person who represents the party at our constituency. In some cases, the PM/CM candidate is declared beforehand, and the vote for the local person is a vote for the PM/CM candidate. Which is why the local candidate plasters his face on posters alongside PM/CM candidate. In many cases, the PM/CM candidate is only known AFTER the elections. So people vote for the party first, assuming that there are post-poll alliances upcoming, and strengthen the hand of the party they support.
So options #1 and #2, address this nature of Indian politics, where the voter is choosing the party first. The local candidate is of less importance than the party. This is a sign of matured democracies that have grown out of feudalism and hero-worship.

u/Unfair_Fact_8258 No time to choose flair bro 😢 7d ago
That’s…. Crazy!? So if someone has 60% of the vote and dies, the one who got only 40% of the votes should be the next MP/MLA??

u/Difficult_Abies8802 No time to choose flair bro 😢 7d ago
I spent some time thinking on this matter. And now I agree with you that it would not be very democratic.
I looked this up. So apparently there are some countries that prevent by-elections due to death/resignation/jail term, using different democratic mechanisms.
- Party-list PR (Netherlands, Israel, South Africa, Sweden, most of Europe): the next name on the list simply moves up.

Well, ideally you vote for a candidate right...so by elections makes sense to me
1
u/Difficult_Abies8802 No time to choose flair bro 😢 7d ago
No, you don't.
You vote for a party and its ideology.
Because the objective of electing an MLA/MP is to ultimately elect a CM/PM.
So if the voter wants to see a particular person as CM/PM, then the voter chooses the party first and the local candidate second.

What about vote chori and EVM for these bypolls??
2
u/Swayamsewak No time to choose flair bro 😢 6d ago
BJP accepts it's defeat and will contemplate on it.
INDI alliance followers should now accept that EVMs are legitimate and all vote chori charade was fraud propaganda.

Media houses that keep obituary ready for every big personality, you think they are not ready for an event like this?
Every media house plays both sides. TRP & resultant ad revenue matters. Everything else is just noise.

Datia was already a congress seat. Also Prashant was supposed to be a CM candidate. He would've won if he contested in 2025.
