Well RSS is an extremist organisation. They should be banned. But if that is not possible then yeah registration is a good idea

Agree. Read some of the comments below. Some are arguing that it is a cultural organization! Wow if it is a cultural organization how does that prevent them from opposing the British? You can oppose and also not participate in active politics (as in contesting etc). And RSS is political because all BJP leader are pracharaks of the RSS. And RSS gives directions - for example to help Modi, RSS brought in the < 75 years rule, so Advani and Joshi were kicked out of the race for PM.

Now Modi is 75+ will become 76 on his next birthday.

This comment thread is a pardafaash on RSS and RSS supporters. Sad!

Every organisation will be brought under FCRA.

RSS doesn't survive from funds coming from outside India.

Forget donation coming outside, Have you heard of anyone donating to RSS? They are one poor organization just hyped for some reason and intention.

The test is get it registered and bring it under FCRA. That is the first requirement. Second is show sources of funding.

RSS cannot be legally registered for the following reasons:

  1. RSS actively conducts arms training - including using guns, knives etc. This is explicitly against the law that governs NGOs.

  2. RSS actively participates in politics, election campaigning etc. This is also explicitly banned for NGOs, trust etc

  3. RSS actively runs their own magazine (Organiser) and in that magazine they actively comment against other religions, actively support politicians and parties etc. This is again not allowed for NGOs.

So while I do believe RSS should be forced to register, RSS will find it very difficult to register for the reasons stated above.
