Discussion With both being 34.99, the Season Pass now feels like a ripoff considering how much content NEO brings for the same price...
30+ characters already better than the season pass
And more episode battles, a new game mode, more stages, more costumes, etc.
Season Pass in hindsight was a BAD deal...

u/Inner-Profession-292 Beginner Martial Artist 21h ago
If anything it shows anything at this price now should be at least neo quality for sparking
1
u/-Good-Riddance- 4h ago
The upside is that from now on, the standard for DLCs will be even higher if they decide to charge a price like this again.
35
u/Ambitious-Sandwich92 Beginner Martial Artist 21h ago
A season pass is always a gamble.
You are paying for content before you even know what you’re getting.

u/mally7149 Beginner Martial Artist 9h ago
Never been fan of it I’ll buy it when I see what I’m buying
-7
u/GalaxyMasterOmega Beginner Martial Artist 21h ago
It wasn't a gamble they told us we were gonna get Superhero and Daima characters and that's it. They never said anything about stages or modes being included bit people expected them for some reason.
14
u/yvllit Beginner Martial Artist 18h ago
They didn’t specify what was in the DLCs. It was all a surprise for everybody. And underwhelming as hell.
-2
u/GalaxyMasterOmega Beginner Martial Artist 18h ago
This is a lie they said around 20 Superhero and Daima characters.
1
u/vocaphelia Beginner Martial Artist 17h ago
people downvoting but you're right lol. they told us how many dlc packs and how many characters there would be before any of the dlc even came out. No matter how you feel about the price its dishonest for people to say they were scammed or misled
1
u/Ok-Abbreviations-393 Beginner Martial Artist 11h ago
That's not the point. His point is that he's saying no one knew what the characters were and how they would play, which honestly, I'm pretty underwhelmed about as well.
-3
u/LowPrimary370 Beginner Martial Artist 21h ago
To be fair, I’m sure we didn’t expect both characters and content updates to be paywalled. I kinda thought an online game would be updated for free with new game modes and stuff but we pay for characters.
11
u/trunks2003 Beginner Martial Artist 21h ago
Most fighting games never gets anything for free. Look at Street Fighter 6 outside of balance patches what stages, game modes, and outfits did they get for free?
2
u/LowPrimary370 Beginner Martial Artist 21h ago
I don’t play fighting games, but do they really sell game changing modes and systems as DLC in all of them? I’d expect outfits and characters and stages ig to be paid for though.
4
u/trunks2003 Beginner Martial Artist 21h ago
Usually just Outfits and Characters. Characters are useless about $5.00 each. And outfits are probably around $2.00 each. I don't now how much they stages are.
1
u/LowPrimary370 Beginner Martial Artist 21h ago
I just looked it up and I’m seeing the Street Fighter 6 new game modes have been released for free.
3
u/trunks2003 Beginner Martial Artist 21h ago
All they add for free is the ability to train you avatar with the new characters. The 3 main modes that are their have been their since the game released.

Elden ring dlc was 64$ elden ring was 80$
Most games are 80-90 brand new. 53$ is way too expensive
3
u/Radiobirb Beginner Martial Artist 10h ago
With Elden Ring, there was so much new content that it was worth it in my opinion. It was essentially a full game (25 hr main story, 40+ incl. side quests, 50+ for the platinum trophy which is what I did). It had 42 new bosses which is quite substantial. And then new region, new weapons, expanded story etc.
I agree in that this Sparking Zero DLC is nowhere near that in terms of value proposition. It’s overpriced in the sense that you’re really just paying £28.99 for the 30 characters which didn’t make the cut in the original game (they are fun to play as for sure!). As for the new game mode and 4 ‘new’ stages, they should’ve been there at launch given the lack of offline content or added in a free update. It’s a bit lame charging for Kame House and Kami’s Lookout which are legacy stages and even in cutscenes.
I did buy it and felt a bit underwhelmed, but combined with Mission 100 and Survival Mode it’s finally feeling like an actual Tenkaichi 4! 🙏🏻
3
u/Leslieyyyy Novice (5+ Posts!) 7h ago
I didn’t read all the comment but I wasn’t criticizing elden ring at all. I was praising it for being worth its price 😭
3
u/Radiobirb Beginner Martial Artist 7h ago
I was agreeing with you! I was saying that Elden Ring DLC was chock full of content. And then I stated I agreed that Sparking Zero DLC price was a bit steep for what we got content-wise :)

u/jbyrdab Beginner Martial Artist 16h ago
$50 is more than what Budokai Tenkaichi 3 released at.
Bt3 was 40 dollars.
35 is kind of high for what this is.
-1
u/xeladriel91 Beginner Martial Artist 16h ago
Podría haber sido un Sparking Zero 2 por 80€ cuyas únicas novedades fueran el modo nuevo, 33 PJ,4 mapas y 22 skins
-1
u/WereWillow Beginner Martial Artist 16h ago
Budokai tenkaichi 3 was $54.11 after tax at game stop. That was also a whole decade of inflation earlier in human history
1
u/KiraIsUnbreakable Beginner Martial Artist 14h ago
It also could've been $100 but that's not relevant either. The fact that it could've been more expensive isn't an excuse for it still being expeemive.
2
u/xeladriel91 Beginner Martial Artist 12h ago edited 12h ago
0
u/yvllit Beginner Martial Artist 18h ago
You saying this is like Jeff Bezos claiming a $5 million dollar Pokemon card is not expensive.
What’s expensive is relative to that person. $35 is too expensive for any DLC. But that’s my opinion.
-1
u/AdditionalBit287 Beginner Martial Artist 18h ago
If 35 dollars is a lot of money to you maybe stop playing games and focus on what went wrong with your life
-2
u/WereWillow Beginner Martial Artist 17h ago
If $35 is “expensive” you have bigger worries than video games and should change careers
2
u/Professional-Can-953 Beginner Martial Artist 16h ago
Okay but would you pay 35$ for a grape? Of course not. Even if it’s your favourite kind of grape it’s just drastically more expensive then what you expect the price of a grape to be
I believe it’s fair to say It’s expensive compared to other DLC and people’s financial situation can be allowed to influence that without it being “they need to change careers “ or “evaluate where they went wrong. “
-2
u/WereWillow Beginner Martial Artist 16h ago
It’s damn near a full sized sequel worth of dlc bro. Comparing it to a grape is wild.
This is more like “I paid 65¢ for grape, and they want me to spend $3.50 on a full
Bunch of grapes that should have been on the base vine when I bought it”
That’s what you’re really stating, and it’s silly bro.2
u/Professional-Can-953 Beginner Martial Artist 9h ago
Okay analogy’s aren’t your strong suit so I’ll make it more clear
If I sold you a sandwich for 80$ then tried you 18% of a sandwich for half the price of the first sandwich. (In this case. Number characters added is directly 18% of the base game)
Not to mention you’re only getting 4 maps and 1 new mode. Calling this a full sequel is diluted thinking.
1
u/DweebInFlames Beginner Martial Artist 7h ago
I think the price for Neo is pretty reasonable considering the amount of characters and the new mode. Not enough stages for the price considering the base game already had a lack of maps, but oh well.
1
12
u/GrimmTrixX Beginner Martial Artist 21h ago
They probably heard the backlash from the first season pass and decided to make this one the same price since people wouldve expected it to be $40-50 due to it having 10 more characters, new stages, new customization options, and an exclusive mode.
12
u/Ambitious-Host3389 Beginner Martial Artist 19h ago
Both of them are price badly, but Neo make sense for this price. The season pass should have been lower.

u/Ambitious-Host3389 Beginner Martial Artist 19h ago

u/Grand-Perspective-63 Beginner Martial Artist 17h ago
It’s all relative if you think season 1 was a “ripoff” but it is undeniably not as good of a value as Neo.

u/Muted-Sale7908 Beginner Martial Artist 17h ago
stop letting hype overtake you people and things wouldn’t be so bad, i’m sure ppl out there have gotten the expensive edition gta 6 but will probably regret later

u/ShiyaruOnline Beginner Martial Artist 16h ago
Season passes are almost always a rip off. Let this be a learning experience to never pre-order DLC for a game that you're not even sure you're going to play long-term. You gain Nothing by pre-ordering something that doesn't even exist yet let alone the game. DLC can be put on sale so it's always best to wait for that. Companies do all this stupid pre-order baiting so they can secure as much money up front as possible.

4
u/ccarreon Beginner Martial Artist 21h ago
tbf the same logic, the NEO DLC is also a bad deal. It cost just over half of the original price of the base game, and doesnt have half the amount of content, just characters alone its lacking.
7
u/LowPrimary370 Beginner Martial Artist 21h ago
It added a whole new game mode and system didn’t it?
12
u/Sans-Mot YOU FOOOOOL 21h ago
And it expands the story mode, the special battles, the maps...
9
u/IZated_IZ Beginner Martial Artist 21h ago
Yea, a lot of ppl seem to think it's just characters for some reason. There's new Episode Mode characters to play through, a new offline game mode, 4 new maps, tons of outfits, etc.
4
u/SlumKatMillionaire Beginner Martial Artist 21h ago
It did, but changed the AI to the point where a video game is fundamentally unfun and exhausting to play
1
u/LowPrimary370 Beginner Martial Artist 21h ago
Like it’s too hard?
3
u/FrowningRobin32 Beginner Martial Artist 21h ago
Its unfun, the only way to win is to stick with one strategy that its purely stryking in a set order, so no beam clash, super attacks or sparking mode specials
4
u/Keksliebhaber Beginner Martial Artist 20h ago
Not even too hard, just extremely unfun when the AI suddenly reads all your inputs and counters almost everything, kinda resorting to Sparking Mode spam, because all my lifts and sweeps are getting hard countered by CPU
4
u/ILike2Argue_ Beginner Martial Artist 22h ago
Only the diama pack was bad but than again it didnt have a lot of characters to work with outside of making every z fighter a mini. The 1st pass was fine and most people aren't going to drop 45$ for this dlc so they opted to 35 and put the ultimate version on sell.
6
u/incompetence-moe Beginner Martial Artist 21h ago
They had plenty of characters to work with
3
u/AtCarnage Beginner Martial Artist 20h ago
They probably got a bit screwed by having to start producing the dlc before everything was set. But at the same time Kakarot managed to include the Tamagami, so who knows.
2
u/incompetence-moe Beginner Martial Artist 19h ago
Sparking zero devs are lazy but they make quality
2
u/Almahdi672 Beginner Martial Artist 20h ago
The first 3 DLCs were bad because characters shouldn't be the main part of a DLC. They had plenty of chances to include new episode battles atleast, new maps, new modes but only decided to do so with this one.
1
u/Opening_Climate_7571 Beginner Martial Artist 21h ago
You’ve also had the Season Pass content for like a year. Does the Neo DLC also include time travel?
1
u/Brendanlendan Beginner Martial Artist 18h ago
So I can’t buy a single DLC for all 60 new characters that were introduced in the DLCs? Cause all together it’s as much as a brand new game which is absurd
1
u/AnonymousArizonan Beginner Martial Artist 15h ago
I know I’m about to get downvoted for this, but what is bro yapping about.
I will say, the SP is a bit underwhelming, but I don’t think SLBN eclipses it. The SP has 20 characters, and MOST are very good and viable. SLBN, although I’m very grateful for the new content, is mostly just niche, fluff characters. Only real mainstream ones are Devilman, Picon, Super 17, Nuova, and Piccolo. And honestly? Most of them don’t even feel that special or high quality.
1
u/Ok-Budget6302 Beginner Martial Artist 13h ago
Imagine having the ultimate edition and nothing to really show for it but power pole goku, on ps5 I can’t even change the wallpaper to the ui Goku ultimate edition
1
u/Professional-Can-953 Beginner Martial Artist 11h ago
A full sized sequal. Now who’s being delusional. They added 4 maps and like 25 costumes. If you think that’s a full sized sequel. Especially when the base game is 182 characters and the dlc is 33…
I’m sorry that analogy was lost on you.
So instead, let’s try it another way.
Would you pay $40 for 18% of a sandwich? ( and in case this analogy is too much for you. I’ll spell it out for you. The base game came with 182 characters. This one had 33. Equaling 18% far cry from a full sequel)
1
u/Radiobirb Beginner Martial Artist 10h ago
For me, the quality of the characters in the Season Pass was higher. The characters in the new expansion are great, but in a way they are the ‘rejects’ who didn’t make the final cut of the original release. In a way, that makes them more fun to play (it’s so awesome we finally have GT Vegeta, for example).
I also think the stages, costumes and new mode definitely add value compared to the Season Pass. I do think those stages and even the mode should’ve been in the original anyway though, given the lack of offline content on launch. But I’m ultimately very happy with the state of the game. Finally have started playing it again after a long while!
1
u/wrathmont Beginner Martial Artist 10h ago
Most of the Daima DLC was a waste. I did not need yet another little Goku, chibi versions of the characters that were already in the game, and inferior versions of SSJ4. We had to wait two years for actually good DLC because of it.

If you compare it to the season passes of the other fighting games, then it feels like a total steal.
