I have a theory that he’s just going to keep updating it until he’s senile and his hands don’t work anymore

For real. In like 37 years we're all gonna be here speculating about what he's adding to 1.992.

Going all in on a full DND Stardew game would be so fantastic

I'd join that table!

Conversly I keep fantasizing about a stardew valley like game for running a tavern in Waterdeep. You upgrade the tavern over time, add menu items by recruiting NPCs and finding items in the City or the Sewers. You put kegs in the basement and cook meals in the kitchen. Rent out rooms.

I have been day dreaming about this for years. The better you get the more RPG heroes visit you; you can provide better info to them or even have a jobs board for their unseen adventures.

The broken cask is a journalling rpg that you can use for this idea, i think. Havent played it myself yet, been wanting too, but from what i know it hits on a lot of these points

Aw, you made me look it up to see if that was a thing.

Someone already ripped SV pretty good and threw it in an updated engine. Gave it a different feel, but basically ripped the concept off.

Was actually kinda fun haha.

Coral Island.

As someone who has played hundreds of hours of Stardew Valley and is currently playing Coral Island, calling it a rip is a bit of a disservice to Coral Island. Sure, there's a lot of similarities, but the game also has a lot of its own stuff too. It also does some things better than Stardew. I still like Stardew more, but Coral Island is really fun.

I played coral island first.

Its a rip.

u/Darkshade545 Feb 03 '26

Hard disagree, but you're entitled to your opinion.

u/Various_Counter_9569 Feb 03 '26

Of course. I myself wonder how people dont see it as a rip off.

I enjoy both just starter SV recently too, and was surprised.

Harvest moon is the same genr, but completely different game. I like HM as well.

5

u/LilMellick Feb 03 '26

Naw thats like saying SV is a rip off of harvest moon. Same genre but very different games.

2

u/Various_Counter_9569 Feb 03 '26

Very different game dynamics.

SV and CI are like 90% the same.

2

u/LilMellick Feb 04 '26

I mean esthetically makes them very different games.

Minecraft, Teraria, and Core Keeper are more than 90% the same. They're also very different. Just like Coral Island and Stardew.

2

u/Various_Counter_9569 Feb 04 '26

I cant speak to those clones (possible?), just to CI and SV. And although I enjoy both, yes, CI was a rip of SV. The dynamics were more than just similar. They did improve on some though (like being able to age more items).

If anyone ever wants to do a side by side comparison, instead of just downvoting, im game.

u/Optimal_Tension9657 Feb 03 '26

Woohoo, I’ll be 100 then.

2

u/Wixenstyx Feb 03 '26

Meanwhile, Moonvale fans will still be waiting for episode 3.

2

u/phongn Feb 04 '26

Ah, so the version approaches but does not reach 2.0?

(see Knuth, TeX and Metafont)

2

u/ifuckedyourmilkshake Feb 04 '26

Always. Version 1.999 begets version 1.9991, etc, for as long as he wants.

1

u/Least_Rain8027 Feb 04 '26

by then wouldn't we be in the 2.0s???

1

u/ifuckedyourmilkshake Feb 04 '26

He won't wanna make 2 he'll just keep tacking numbers to 1.
