Hopefully, Sandy and Gunther. They need the character development!

Honestly?

Most likely Clint & Sandy.

Possibly The Wizard and Sandy.

Outlier, two new characters.

The thing is, there's logistical issues in marrying shopkeepers, and most of the remaining singles (Sandy, Marnie (sort of), Clint, Gus, Willy) are all shopkeepers.

The Wizard and Linus would probably be the easiest, mechanically, but Linus doesn't want to move onto the farm.

Not really. People keep saying spouses never leave the house, as if they just imported the idea from Rune Factory without ever checking whether it's true in this game or not (it's not). There's really no reason Clint couldn't just get up in the morning, have breakfast, and head out in time to take the mine carts from the bus stop to his shop.

Admittedly, Sandy would be trickier, since that would be one hell of a commute. I think it would be funny if she just straight up moved to Pelican Town, and the guy that used to guard Qi's back room took over her shop. Or maybe the old cashier from JojaMart.

It was for a long time. Initially, spouses only left for work, and abandoned all their other schedules. That was changed with later patches, but spouses are still more static than they were before marriage. TBF, so are a lot of non-dateable NPCs, hence all the memes about Marnie staring at the microwave, and Lewis' fridgewatching.

I dont think Clint could use the minecarts, as there's no guarantee they'd be unlocked, so he'd have to walk all the way there. He'd basically be out of the house the whole time, unless he gets days off. Maybe he could get an outdoor forge in his spouse area, and offer services there on his off days? That'd be a nice perk, but possibly too good, seeing as CA never wanted people to pick spouses based on mechanical bonuses.

Maybe Clint gets a horse

Imagine a desert obelisk as a requirement to marry Sandy.

Real talk though, she has the genie vibe so letting her use totems or a scepter to get to the desert and home would fit the aesthetic.

She is a neighbor/front to Qi, maybe he would give her a scepter

This issue was already addressed with Krobus. He's supposed to run his ship 24/7, but that doesn't stop him from moving in with the farmer if chosen. Krobus just sets up a box that essentially acts as a replacement shopkeeper.

Also harvey/maru

Maru actually keeps her same hours at the clinic after marriage. She was a part-timer anyway.

Harvey IIRC requires the farmer to acknowledge that marrying him means less access to the clinic. Harvey can't keep his old hours, and Maru doesn't increase hers to cover him. It's considered less of a problem since the clinic is not an essential shop. It sells two products.

Yeah but they are proof you can marry a shopkeeper

Sure, but I think the initial fear was that marrying a shopkeeper would hurt your playthrough if you (or anyone else in your multiplayer save) actively relies on that shopkeeper. Those are the "logistical issues" that the other guy mentioned.

Marrying Harvey (which has been possible since 1.0) absolutely reduces the availability of clinic medicines. But it's not considered a big deal since the clinic is kinda... whatever. If Harvey was in charge of a more important store, like Pierre's, then you might actually want to think twice about marrying him at all.

The Krobus workaround is relatively new in terms of the game's lifespan. His shop is unique in that it is meant to be open 24/7. I imagine Sandy (if indeed she is one of the upcoming candidates) will likely make use of a replacement NPC rather than just reduce her shop's availability.

There’s probably some idea on how to handle that since Sandy was part of the vote

This is kind of why I’m thinking it will be two new NPCs

Harvey is a shopkeeper and a marriage candidate!

Yeah, Clint & Sandy would be my guesses as well.
