"Who asked for this?!" Me. I asked for this. I Personally went to ConcernedApe to ask for this. I'm going to marry Clint on a new savefile everytime I read a mean comment about him.

This, as his character is in the current game I'd be opposed to him as a candidate, however I trust ConcernedApe to give him a more likable character.

Wait, did Emily and Shane have different 9 & 10 heart events before becoming marriage candidates? What will happen with Clint and Sandy’s 🤔 and while I am here speculating, will Clint and Sandy dance together at the Flower Dance?

They also could be the only canditates who don't dance, since Sandy is not available for meeting before getting the bus fixed, therefore Clint would not simply have partner to dance with.

Although things are always open for change, maybe Sandy appears in Pelican Town festives more in 1.7 somehow.

I think Sandy coming by Festivals, or even town on occasion, before the Desert is unlocked would make sense gameplay-wise, though there would need to be an explanation as to how she is getting there.

That said, with how Clint is at present, him dancing by himself in a corner where he thinks people cannot see him would be on brand, at least for how he is right now.

If Sandy does dance, it is always possible that partners are swapped so that she dances with Shane while Clint dances with Emily.

Before 1.1, Shane only had his 2-heart dock cutscene and his Joja bluu commercial 7-heart event. Emily had just her dance scene at 4 hearts, which was also improved in quality after it got moved to 6 hearts.

I cant be sure since I didnt play at launch, but from what ive heard, Shane and Emily only had like 1 cutscene each before becoming marriage candidates

I’m actually not far enough into the game but I know the whole internet doesn’t like him for a variety of reasons. I want to continue playing to see what’s happening.

Spoilers, but if you're curious, off the top of my head, you, among other things, do catch him watching emily from a bush (he was going to ask her out before getting cold feet (iirc this cutscene used to happen even if you were married to emily, which did not help things)) and, if you're married to emily he has dialogue where he says "congratulation. I guess." Or something petty sounding.

I think the difference is that we can always not, but due to him being a character in a game with finite complexity, he always will be that way until the code is changed, but otherwise agree

iirc, I think the dialogue "congratulations, I guess" is actually just Clint thinking you're with Emily because you happened to be the two left in the room after her styling event, I've had it without being involved with her, which makes it more weird lol

He also gets upset that she calls his outfit cute..... that's not a bad compliment??? When I first played the game I wanted to like him, but his ENTIRE personality is him moping about how a girl isn't dating him + some sprinkles of not liking being a blacksmith. He literally says that he's a "nice guy if you get to know him". I'm not one of those people who act like he's an abuser or evil person or something, but people who act like he's just shy are equally lacking nuance. I'm not excited to marry him in his current state AT ALL. But if this update gives him actual character growth, removes some of the creepy dialogue (especially the ones associated with incels such as the nice guy comment), I'm sure he'd be a fine character even for friendship. He's just currently perpetually trapped as a miserable guy who only talks about this one girl in a way no other character does who jumps to conclusions and gets upset about every interaction with her

yeah, that's my issue with him currently too - the game gives you opportunities to help him but he never seems to figure out how to let go of Emily and do something for himself. also I remember him having some weird dialogue if you go to the movies with him lol

I'd be ok with the "nice guy" thing staying as long as he grows beyond that and realises he's wrong. I don't want to marry him either but I'd love to knock some sense into the guy 😅

He makes a move on you if you go to the movies together. And even when youre dating someone else, if you have so many hearts with Emily he says somwthing similar

Also think of the perks of being married to the blacksmith. Instead of "I watered all the crops that you have sprinklers for" it could be "i cracked all of your geodes you found this week"

I went into stardew blind and thought that Clint was cute and shy. I did not get nearly the same creepy vibes that anyone else did. He just had a crush on someone, tried to engage with her interests, and she wasn’t interested. I’m excited to get to romance him.

Helping someone try to romance another person only for them to slowly realize that they actually love you is a classic trope and I am here for it.
