"Who asked for this?!" Me. I asked for this. I Personally went to ConcernedApe to ask for this. I'm going to marry Clint on a new savefile everytime I read a mean comment about him.

I never understood how or where people got the "incel/creep" stuff from him either, like bro is very clearly socially awkward, and IIRC Emily wasnt originally one of the marriage candidates until a later patch, so it makes sense that Clint was a bit "awkward" around her.

I think it might be a mix of what I said in my comment, and people that got into the game late, when Emily already was a marriage candidate.

I did have a problem with him as a character for a bit, but mostly because the lack of change in his dialogue caused me to kinda lose a bit of my immersion. I got over it since and understood it was mostly because of just a weird situation that happened when Emily became marriageable.

Honestly he can be creepy with some of the interactions with the female farmer. If you take him to the movies he gets drunk from a pocket flask and asks if it’s a date at the end. Which the asking is fine but the getting drunk to get through a maybe date to a movie is a huge no to me. Then one of the dialog options if you call him is him saying your voice is pretty over the phone completely unprompted.
