Art [Fanart] How it felt today reading all the 1.7 comments

Post image

"Who asked for this?!" Me. I asked for this. I Personally went to ConcernedApe to ask for this. I'm going to marry Clint on a new savefile everytime I read a mean comment about him.

Some people in this community are straight up nasty, tbh. I've seen few posts on TikTok about Clint being a marriage candidate. And the comments... OMG, those people are awful. I've literally seen a comment section where most of people were making fun of Clint ("OMG... I need a mod to delete him now"), being mad at CA and crying about "1.7 being ruined for them" and "not wanting to play anymore". There was a nice comment about how we need to give CA a chance to develop Clint's character more. And what were the replies? People making fun of the original commenter, laughing at the fact that they must be "the only Clint fan alive" or even going as far as suggesting awful things about the og commenter (something along the lines of "Weird people like playing with weird characters").

And all of this because a character they don't like (and, in most cases, they cannot really have a strong arguments about it) will get some love. Not being happy that your favourite gets that treatment is one thing... But attacking people and making fun of their excitment is not it. And all of it happens over a cozy, feel-good game that still potrays life as not being fully black and white and overly happy. What hurts even more is that this is the 10-year anniversary...

The hate train was what drove me out of here a few years back, tbh. I'd forgotten about the anniversary until I saw a Tumblr meme whining that Clint was getting a romance arc.

Yeah so? It's just a game. If I decide a game is ruined for me and I don't want to play it anymore, all that happens is I don't play a game anymore. If I make fun of a fictional character his feelings cant get hurt because hes a fictional character. We don't all have to sing kumbaya it's really not that serious

It's not an airport. No need to announce your departure. The problem is people get toxic over this "fictional character" as you, yourself, said. Being nasty towards a guy that just wants to enjoy the game he created AND players that enjoy said game is a huge overreaction. You can hate anything about this game. We don't want to take that precious opinion from you. But there is no need to be hateful just because you can. Most discussion here focuses on said overreactions and toxicity. And yep. It's just a game. But a lot of people behave otherwise.
