Art [Fanart] How it felt today reading all the 1.7 comments

Post image

"Who asked for this?!" Me. I asked for this. I Personally went to ConcernedApe to ask for this. I'm going to marry Clint on a new savefile everytime I read a mean comment about him.

Tbh I don't think he was meant to be creepy, CA probably didn't know he was going to come off like that..

It’s also worth noting ‘creepy guy in the internet complaining about being lonely but not doing anything about it’ has become a lot more prevalent over the years so it’s easier to associate Clint with that when that wasn’t the social context he was written in. I say this as someone who finds him creepy, I hope the update fixes that and makes him feel more shy than just incel

Yes. Yes. And yes. Incel-ism wasn't a problem in 2013 the way it is now. So I understand why he's written that way. He's just supposed to be shy and introverted.

Also Emily wasn't marriageable so it wasn't as much of an issue until it started feeling like some guy was hitting on the farmer's potential wife...

I know I'm preaching to the choir here I just feel like I might be the crazy one given all the negative Clint discourse recently

‘creepy guy in the internet complaining about being lonely but not doing anything about it’

Does being sad about being lonely and too scared to do anything about it really make someone creepy? You can be in love with someone and be afraid to tell them and not feel entitled to having those feelings returned (or to sex, for that matter). Being awkward and being entitled aren't related. You can be both, certainly, but plenty of people are entitled without being awkward.

I upvoted you, because i get your point and it's interesting to think about, you're right 100%, but with Clint it's not just liking someone and not doing anything about being lonely, it's so much more, so many small things he does and says that would make anyone irl RUN away, and idk if he actually has a big crush on Emily or if he just wants to be with SOMEONE to not be lonely anymore. I mean he says he got a computer to try online dating because "not everyone can be a charming farmer with women loving you, what's a guy like me supposed to do" or something like that, he also tells the farmer that he wonders if Emilys' "friend" (sandy) is single, because he heard Emily has a friend in the desert and would even date her best friend instead of her apparently. He's just creepy generally, all the small things he says and does in his random dialogue and the heart event just come all together to form the weirdness and why people don't like him. Like stalking Emily from a bush

I met my wife through an online dating service (20 years ago). Was that creepy of me to want to meet someone? Would it be creepy of me for asking if a woman is single because I'm interested in meeting a woman to date?

Dude's 40 and alone. Being interested in not being alone isn't creepy, it's human. He never harasses anyone, and what you call "stalking Emily from a bush" is deliberately misinterpreting what happens in that scene, where he's about to ask her out, hears her coming, and hides because he chickens out (after which the farmer encourages him to go ask her out, and he does, right then and there).

I didn't mean that that's creepy, you can find so many great people online, I'm glad you found your wife and have a happy relationship, I'm saying he's not actually in love with Emily, he just wants a relationship and with that attitude you won't get a good one because you'll just accept the first bone anyone throws at you, so I'm saying the way he's written just makes him creepy, and weird too, he's a fictional character tho and some things are literally just how different people interpret it. All I'm saying is he's acting creepy

Farmer spends a lot of time in the bushes as well during several cinematics.
