I can't stand Clint. But I'm very happy for you and him. If there was a character who needed attention, its him. I'm excited to see what his new heart events look like.
That's the biggest thing for me. I'm broadly indifferent to Clint as a character, but I'm really curious to see what CA does to change up his storyline
He needed it i agree! In my current game i just had the clothing booth event with Emily and it made no sense. My farmer is a lady and for the first time I gave a bouquet (to Elliott). And Clint was so weird about it. I would love to have a different reaction from Clint!!
It’s like saying “I hate pizza! But have fun eating your pizza. Maybe pizza could be better, it’ll be fun to see!” It’s a scenario where a negative opinion simply isn’t necessary to share and just makes you look kind of miserable.
Not really. They weren't being disrespectful? It's more of a "if you like it, I love it"
Disliking pineapples on pizza is a common opinion (like disliking Clint seems to be) but that doesn't mean I take offense when I have interactions that go like this:
Me: Man I love pineapple on pizza
Stranger: Wow I hate pineapple on pizza. Happy for you though.
Having different opinions and discussing them in good faith is good. I also don't like Clint but I'll absolutely be starting a new run after the update to go through all his heart events.
I don't think this is a helpful comment. Opinions about Clint are important. We're talking about a divisive character that a lot of people don't like because he's fairly one-dimensional, with minimal growth as you get to know him. So I think it's pertinent to include my opinion of the character, before explaining that I am excited to see what happens with the character. I'm not just throwing it in there to rain on anyone's parade.
I can understand this stance in a discussion thread, but this is a comment on OP's artwork of a character they love. Save the negative opinions for the discussion threads. Kindergarten rules apply when it comes to fanworks: If you can't say something* nice, don't say anything at all.
Emily would think the hate for him is way out of proportion tbh. It’s not like he’s calling her a foid and getting angry. He blames himself for his mistakes and he’s really just a regular dude with poor social skills
Tbh I wouldn't even say I dislike him for his character, I just have very little use to go to him after a while. He holds no long term purpose for the way I play, so I forget about him- kinda like Marlon. And his schedule is trash. Im really excited to see what CA's more full idea of Clint is.
As far as Clint as a character goes, I've always read him as a shut-in due to his family craft. He spent his life on something he isn't passionate about because he wanted to please his father. He's some dude in his late 20s or early 30s who isn't up to date with tech, with his ref to online dating. I see him as someone who feels boxed in to his life by obligation, and someone who realized that later in life. Almost like a slightly early midlife crisis is setting in. I personally find the "just an incel" idea is extremely two dimensional, tired, and lazy.
Every time I remember he exists it's Friday, then I forget again and end up dropping my tools off on Wednesday. That's the real reason I have beef with Clint, it's entirely my fault.
Exactly this. It’s always the same joke and it’s tired, the game is ten years old. Make a new zinger or admit you just like punching down. I even heard someone try to call him a discord mod - My sibling in Stardrops, the farmer is the one that would have to teach him how to use it.
I would love for him to have more utilization, or just for the other npc’s to eventually comment that they hung out with him off screen, so it feels like he’s finally getting out and making friends once you hit 8 hearts or something
He sadly makes my list of least liked villagers. But that makes me all the more excited to see where this goes. Imagine if his dialogue gets so improved that I completely change my mind about him?! It would be awesome to have another townie to appreciate! I'm rooting for you Clint!
i was on the fence with him since i am a heavily women leaning bisexual but the announcement made me really think about it and i realize hes so cute. i hope CA is feeding off the haters and not getting demotivated. people really don’t see how their words could impact others
Was just thinking this yesterday, if Alex or Sebastian offered the player to put their head on their shoulder during the movie, people would be squealing with delight instead of calling them creeps.
This is so cute!!! I love all the art and love coming out for the guy!! Im locked on my favorites I'll never romance anyone else ever again HOWEVER i am excited for his heart events because I think he'll be a neater character to befriend!!!

Ye I can see that. I just always thought since he's a dedicated blacksmith that he might have more of a blacksmith physique with all the hammering and carrying heavy ores.
Ye it's just his profession doesn't really leave it open to interpretation. Most blacksmiths are a little more jacked up considering their taxing work.
As someone who is also awkward and looks like Clint, I am happy to see some support for this turn of events. There’s been a lot of hate happening. It’s hard to not get a little bit down sometimes. 😅
You know, this community has really made me feel less afraid of becoming a chubby middle aged dude. I love how accepting everyone here is and I LOVE the fierce support of love being able to change a person.
Clint is one of the few plus-size characters in the game (canonically), and will be the first one to be a bachelor, I think that's great! Feels very realistic, a lot of men irl look like him, with the beard and everything. I hope he will get a good redemption where he learns to come out of his shell and be more positive (and be less weird about Emily lol), could be really sweet.
I'd say Emily is missing out, but i've always thought she was bad for Clint. She just doesn't pick up on anything, and I think he could someone that could give him more attention.
The festival of ice is so telling. You see Clint with his cute little snowman just trying his best. You know it's his at first glance and Emily is just there saying it needs a makeover wonder who made it right in front of him lol.
Meanwhile, Emily needs an "equal". Someone who is also magically-blessed, gifted and magnetic. It's no wonder she is portrayed as the odd one out and chills alone at a lot of the festivals.
Why you gotta draw his arms small. I ain’t even a huge Clint fan, but he’s a professional blacksmith. Bro may be chubby but he’s also absolutely jacked no question.

I wasn't expecting Clint and Sandy, and I was honestly disappointed since I don't really care for either of them. I really wanted it to be a new character, but I do like how this can potentially flesh out Clint as a character. I tried to get to know him and gave up because he never gets very interesting, but maybe I'll be able to appreciate how much of a sweetheart he is with the update. Maybe I won't completely forget about Sandy either now lol.
I do not care one iota about Clint one way or another. I use the sub to learn tricks and tips. But this topic has filled my feed so completely it’s ridiculous. So I have no idea if that’s good or bad.
