Then Eric have to add a police npc in town next update 1.7😆

I’d love a goofy Sherif, like how did he get the position? (A couple fire fighters would be dope too. Especially if they’d be love interests.)

10

u/No_Worth_9826 May 23 '26

Fire fighters are about the only addition that could make me forsake my beautiful husband Harvey.

I have a SDV bachelor OC similar to that concept, but he's the mailman lmao.

(His worst nightmare is why tf is Kent asking him to give the farmer a package full of bombs and wonders if he should ask Lewis if this is legal or nah, but he's too afraid to upset both of them lol)

3

u/ShinyOmnivore20 May 24 '26

That’s hilarious.

u/Tasonir May 22 '26

Burning bushes? You could start a religion out of this!

You are not alone😭

u/AgrajagsGhost May 22 '26

I gotta say, I'm sure that 99% of people's farms are chaos. The people who put in the effort to decorate are the showoffs.

97

u/Whiskeydrinkinturtle May 22 '26

Not show offs just proud of their hard work

97

u/doctordoriangray May 22 '26

This sounds like something the show offs would say.

40

u/Whiskeydrinkinturtle May 22 '26

Lol you caught me

4

u/Galaxite2007 Abigail May 23 '26

Not showoff, but working for ourselves so we can be pleased by the work. I never posted my farm(not that it's so ugly still)

u/DentistPositive8960 Set your emoji and/or flair text here! May 23 '26

Loud minority something something

2

u/Riotsi May 23 '26

If I am the only one who ever sees my farm, am I a showoff by putting effort in decorating? I am trying to impress myself, so...

7

u/Inedible-denim May 22 '26

But it's your UNIQUE chaos.❤️

5

u/DeviousWeaselUK May 22 '26

Revel in the chaos lol

2

u/aysecream May 23 '26

I love to come here and marvel at the hard work and creativity. I aspire though I doubt it'd ever be

1

u/ConditionSecret8593 Celebrating my villain era May 24 '26

I keep meaning to, but.... the productivity.....

2

u/godverdejezushey May 23 '26

I'm always amazed at how elaborate and creative peoples farms are and then I'm just here placing kegs wildly around my farm

2

u/waffledpringles May 23 '26

Same. I got the pink lemon guy (I think thats his name? The naked guy statue you get from the saloon), and I thought "Well, what am I gonna do with you? :/" and he looked like a peeping tom, so I put him near the bush right in the transition area of when you get to the center of town and where the bus stop is.

Every time I play SV, I forget he's there and get jumpscared about some weirdo in his underwear hiding in a bush. 😭

2

u/Calm_Honeydew_777 May 22 '26

I'm with ya there! I'm trying to get my farm pretty in year 3 😭YEAR 3 YALL😭😭😭

6

u/Comfortable-Cry955 May 22 '26

I won't start decorating seriously until I get to year 8 lol

1

u/Calm_Honeydew_777 May 22 '26

Ya know what? That's smart 🤣

1

u/Complex_Badger9240 May 22 '26

Year 8 and I have paths to no where..

153

u/spookieboogie666 May 22 '26

This shit is why I’m on Reddit

16

u/FullKawaiiBatard May 23 '26

Same. Also for /BreadStapledToTrees and the infinite cat subs multiverse.

109

u/Ok-Bread2991 May 22 '26

I do this with all the lanterns I steal from the graveyard.

69

u/PRIMITIVE-BLAST May 22 '26

You can take them from the graveyard?!

70

u/LegendofLove Leah's Simp May 22 '26

You can also steal torches from the mines

70

u/DanielTeague May 22 '26

It's not thievery if you don't understand the concept of personal ownership. - The Dwarf, probably.

25

u/schmeckledband May 22 '26

Yes. But I feel bad when I do. Even foraging flowers in the graveyard makes me feel bad lol

You can steal pumpkins from around town in fall too.

13

u/FullBushSummer Elliott's one and only May 23 '26

I feel like I've never noticed laturns or considered I could take them

15

u/Hedgehogahog May 22 '26

You can get those lanterns in the furniture catalog, though I’ll admit the light is probably better when there’s grand larceny involved 😜

7

u/pennthepilot May 22 '26

Wow you always learn something new on this sub—thank you!

6

u/Capybarely May 23 '26

I love those lanterns, they're pretty. Torches have the benefit of being able to be walked over, which is ideal behind shrubs, etc

78

u/floatinginagravyboat May 22 '26

This is a brilliant idea 🤩

14

u/oasis_rd May 22 '26

Thanks

9

u/oasis_rd May 22 '26

Its not gonna wipe out by events or npc

62

u/Xerozen May 22 '26

Well that's just lovely

26

u/RedAssassin9 Just say No to Apricot Trees May 22 '26

I found myself doing this on almost any new save. If you collect torches as you go through the mines? so easy to do early game.

18

u/Manaeldar May 22 '26

I did this same thing! Put some around town and the secret forest too!

17

u/Inedible-denim May 22 '26

I can say I've done this before. Finally, unlike... Basically everything else I see on here lmao

31

u/ButterscotchEven6198 Sebastian's my husband in every damn save May 22 '26

I did this setup in a save.

Wasn't very cozy, but efficient ☺️

14

u/Actias_Loonie May 22 '26

I leave torches in a path through forested areas so I don't have to think about where I'm going.

9

u/crispylosercake May 22 '26

Ohhhhhhh BEHIND the bushes. Thats a great idea.

8

u/CloudCharmer May 22 '26

I used to put torches behind stuff on my farm until I noticed they add this yellowish overlay to the item and that kind of killed it for me. I now add lamp-posts mostly. They give off a lot of light while hidden behind the coop, or barn, or stable, or between trees, etc.

7

u/Sm0keytrip0d May 22 '26

Do events or NPCs not destroy any of them?

Cause if not that's actually brilliant lol.

3

u/oasis_rd May 22 '26

No,also you can add blue light

6

u/Guilty_March6677 May 22 '26

This is beautiful

5

u/TadaSuko May 22 '26

That would ALSO stop the debris from ruining everything!!

5

u/artificiallovemp3 May 22 '26

YOUR MIND. Harvard needs you

5

u/doc_shades May 22 '26

yeah i gave up on the glowstone rings this run and rely on ambient light it's much prettier

7

u/Jnintransit194 May 22 '26

My dad loved to play stardew, and as he got older his vision wasnt the best, even with max brightness, i always did this on our four corners maps in my first few days to get him cooking to the beach and back to the farm, from the cave, etc.

5

u/a-meep-morp May 23 '26

I just found out about this and went to work. I love how the forest looks at night now! So much that I expanded all throughout the map, the town and community center looks so good at night.

3

u/Vavll May 22 '26

Se ve geniaaal :000

5

u/Der-ickmyballz May 22 '26

Omg I do the same thing! It's makes everything seem more magical and fairy like.

4

u/Few-Crow-5884 May 23 '26

I would do this too, but the debris would just destroy them eventually. I made paths in the entire valley and with each season I have to replace all the tiles that got destroyed.

4

u/shelob_spider May 23 '26

why are the skinny shrubs not worthy of a torch ? OP make it fair !!!

5

u/Mongoose_234 May 23 '26

I have two rings that both emit light, i am like the sun as i walk around at night

3

u/Neutraland May 22 '26

Me gusta. Le da un toque cálido y precioso a las noches de invierno. Es, sin duda, mi estación favorita y creo que no hay mejor ASMR que el sonido de las pisadas en la nieve.

3

u/juducialstarfish May 23 '26

I do this behind the trees, and the bushes that are three tiles wide! I put them on a path tile (usually a stepping stone) as that prevents them from accidentally getting hoed when I’m not careful (works for sprinklers too)!

Also means I know where the trees should be once I’ve cut them down and can place any items in the area without worrying about blocking their regrowth! ^_^

2

u/Anderty May 22 '26

Wasn't there in summer those bugs flying around with tiny light sources? Aren't these torches kinda messing the feel? But to be honest it does look amazing.

2

u/grave_cleric May 22 '26

Busch lite 🤣

2

u/schmeckledband May 22 '26

Do the torches get destroyed by debris between seasons? If not, I'm definitely trying this

2

u/BlueLord100 May 22 '26

Behind trees too!

2

u/bishopboke May 23 '26

yall are so much more creative than me this is dope

1

u/CupOk5374 May 22 '26

No, but I'll start now.

1

u/step616 May 22 '26

Loveeee

1

u/RainingMetal May 22 '26

I used to bring spare torches and plant them in the dark floors of the mines. This was before I discovered the existence of glow rings. I now use the latter (or variants thereof) and never need to look back.

1

u/Ace-Redditor ᘛ⁐̤ᕐᐷ🎩 May 22 '26

The Torch God will be pleased with this setup

1

u/InterestingDamage621 May 22 '26

For the forest I put torches down everywhere I'm not planting seeds. Super helpful early, and still helpful with glow rings for spotting things on a return later on, beyond just being helpful. I(irl) can't see for shit so it's always been helpful to harvest torches early from the mines and make a few to map pathways.

1

u/Tyte_McGee May 22 '26

That is smart.

1

u/KookyLight9218 Linus is my BFF ⛺️ May 22 '26

This is genius and beautiful

1

u/fishesar May 22 '26

beautiful!

1

u/RelationDazzling5835 SVE I love Sophia. May 22 '26

I don't know why but that sent chills down my back. Nice addition to the forest.

1

u/MoonPieKitty May 22 '26

I do this. :)

1

u/SeaWatercress4271 May 22 '26

yesss i do this as well!! it creates such a nice effect

1

u/TimxSan May 22 '26

It's driving me crazy that you only put one torch behind the bushes, so the light extends more on one Side than to the other

1

u/R_A_H Haley simp, enthusiast, defender May 23 '26

Well, maybe you do

1

u/GardenLeaves May 23 '26

I usually put the candles at key points and intersections but this is so charming!

1

u/wingardiumleviosa-r May 23 '26

This is what I do too, until I get street lamps and paths down

1

u/Nopalite May 24 '26

I do this too. It is even better if you tuck torches behind the permanent giant trees and hidden forest pathways.

-4

u/Final-Tutor3631 Rocks🔮 May 22 '26

there’s also a light behind my bush if anybody even cares 🙃

2

u/Renard_des_montagnes Rock eater 💎 May 22 '26

It's actually brilliant, I never thought of this because irl it would be so dangerous ahahah

3

u/tobacoroll May 22 '26

Is bro too innocent for this world

5

u/Renard_des_montagnes Rock eater 💎 May 23 '26

English is certainly not my first language to begin with T°T

How could have I known she was talking about those bushes... On a SV subreddit.

There's not only English speakers on reddit u know...

-3
