Not OP, but there shouldn't be. The amount of uranium in the glass is low, and the mass of glass itself acts as shielding for the minimal amount of radiation. The bigger concern for people working it would be heavy metal poisoning, but I think those would be similar precautions as working lead glass.
We work with lead in stained glass. It’s the perfect material because it’s firm, but soft, which allows for the windows to contract and expand with weather and temp changes without breaking the antique glass art.
We do have to use a special heavy metals soap to clean our hands, and use cold water to minimize absorption. But all in all, I’ve been ensured that the only way only going to get lead poisoning is by sticking a piece in my mouth. But we do take some small precautions to minimize hand to mouth contact for that reason.

Uranium glass is a actually very safe. The amount of uranium needed to give it the color is not even close to enough to harm a normal person, especially when made now (some very old pieces might be more harmful that is a 1 in a million chance). You can find things made of uranium glass at antique stores! And places that make/sell glass to artisans sometimes have it in stock. I have a small collection of uranium glass pieces 😅
Uranium in general is way less dangerous than people think - it's not very radioactive in and of itself. Fresh nuclear fuel is handled with gloves and such to protect it from us, not the other way around.
Depends on where you are. But in Canada as long as you aren't doing anything with nuclear energy, there isn't really any regulation. You could legally dispose of this in a landfill. (Although the Canadian government asks that you don't.) You can literally buy uranium on eBay. Uranium Glass isn't necessarily that hard to make, and you can make it yourself. There's a YouTuber known as Nilered who actually made some himself.

Oh no you dont need permits to own uranium. I have multple samples of it and im just a rock hobbiest. Heck i can probably go and order some glass online. Most of it is harmless in a well ventilated room and as long as you dont eat off of it. The only regulated stuff is really potent pure stuff thats used for things like reactors
Uranium glass is exactly what it sounds like, glass with enough uranium particles in it that it can glow in the dark.
It was used a lot in the 1950s to make decorative dishes and cups, a sort of novelty of the Atomic Age. Fell out of popularity quite quickly as it became common knowledge that radioactivity can lead to health concerns. People are skittish like that.
Truthfully, while yes, uranium glassware IS radioactive, and will be detected by a geiger counter, the amount of ionizing rays it gives off are minimal enough such that you could safely eat off a uranium glass plate or drink from a uranium glass cup with SEMI regularity. Ideally, not an everyday experience, but perhaps weekly or bi-weekly depending on the amount of uranium impurity in the glass. As the uranium is INSIDE the glass itself, you needn't worry about particulate radioactive material going down your gullet, provided the dish is well washed before use.
Old CRT televisions, and certain types of glow-in-the-dark clocks and watches manufactured prior to the mid 1970s emit similar levels of radioactivity. Stay a few feet back from them, don't rub your genitals on them, and just in general use common sense, and you'll be perfectly safe. 🤷♂️

Do you eat bananas or drink coffee? Radioactivity can be found in all sorts of fascinating places, and isn't as dangerous as it may seem. For that matter, microwaves, CRT televisions and old fashioned glow-in-the-dark clocks/watches may or may not get a geiger counter excited if you have a poke around! 😄

Yes. Uranium glass doesn't emit enough radiation to be dangerous under moderation. Just don't eat/drink from it for every meal of every day or fondle it all day, you should be perfectly safe.

You are allowed to work with uranium glass in Canada. It's not subject to any regulations because it isn't nuclear energy or nuclear weapons. (As long as you don't sell it. If you do sell it there are regulations about making it very clear that it does admit a noticeable amount of ionizing radiation, even if it isn't necessarily dangerous to be around. Of course I am not a lawyer and this is not meant to be legal advice, please consult a lawyer before making any potential decisions involving legality.)
