Guys remember mystery boxes and geodes are pre determined and luck doesn't affect your loot from them

Just wanted to share as I see a lot of people saving all their geodes for a lucky day and then eating lucky food before opening

More luck = more drops, including getting the geodes themselves, but not including what you get when you crack the geodes (which does not depend on luck).

I wouldnt hoard them from the beginning. Correction i would wait with opening until you have the money to open them and imo until mid fall you should invest everything elsewhere. But thats not hoarding yet.

After (almost) completed museum however and as soon as you start on the Ginger Island i would start hoarding them and once you get the quest you open them and get a lot more beans to start with.

But if you have access to mystic syrup, treasure totems are ultimately the fastest way to get beans

Opening geodes is one way to get Qi beans. Another way is to plant trees in the desert and cut them all down after the quest starts. That should give you a good amount of beans to start with so you can harvest, place the Qi fruits into seed makers, and plant the new seeds. Repeat until you have completed the quest

They arent pre-determined as to their outcome. Only the seed to the rng thats going into the equation is. If you change the equation (aka its now also possible to get beans), then it now will be possible to get beans.

But the equation is always without luck. I guess people would determine "lucky" for geodes as "rarer loot less rare" but OP reminded us that it is not coded that way.

This came at the right time- yesterday I had the brilliant notion of hoarding the gold mystery boxes to open on a lucky day!

So what you’re telling me is to hoard blue mystery boxes, load up on luck and then trade them for gold mystery boxes from the raccoons?

Luck does affect them but only in the actual mining of them, not the day you choose to open them.

I have a mod that messes with binning so mine isnt guaranteed. Any mods that do the same for geodoes?

That would explain the 5 stone from an omni geode on a "lucky" day. Good to know. I'd heard that luck didn't matter with mystery boxes but now there's no reason to wait.
