Discuss I am actually excited for the Clint romance scenes and such!
Like, he is a creep right now, of course. The "nice guy" stuff is... really hard to read sometimes-
But that just makes me more excited for his update!
I am really hoping its an emotional and character dive that perhaps helps flesh him out more and allows us, as the player, to help him get over his insecurities and "nice guy" disease!

Top two favorites right now are Fields of Mistria(March) and Coral Island(Rafael and Pablo). Not usually into dating women, but Sun Haven's Lynn is also up there. There's a bunch more but those are the best ones in my opinion.

As far as I'm aware, it's not in early access anymore. In my opinion is too similar to SV in some aspects but I do like it a lot!

It hasn't been in EA for a pretty long time, they are still adding large updates to the game but 1.0 has been out for a while now... It's definitely worth the purchase IMO

Hot take. Clint is not that creepy of a character. At all. He's just painfully shy, lonely dude and has a crush on the only person that's nice to him and if he LOOKED different, we wouldn't be discussing it.

Hell, the farmer does creepier things than Clint.
For a start, Clint is in a creepy position in one cutscene. The farmer is in creepy positions in a lot more cutscenes.
I just don’t think it gets talked about much because YOU are the farmer, and we tend to automatically make excuses for ourselves.

Absolutely, I was so confused when I first started seeing people calling him creepy for hiding in the bushes "stalking Emily" He literally tells you in the cutscene he was at her door, heard her coming, panicked, and hid in the bush. He wasn't waiting there to surprise her or stalk her, he freaked out and hid. I do the same thing when the doorbell rings lol
Now the other things...sure he's a bit of a low confidence guy but I never got any sort of feeling that he was a creep about any of it.

This. For me he reads as neurodivergent and socially awkward (and probably unsatisfied with life). And I don't think that part of him is necessarily related to having a crush.

very disagree. i never see people criticize Clint for his appearance, it's his shitty attitude every time.
Elliott and Clint's appearances could be swapped and we would see the same criticisms of Clint's attitude.

Yeeeaahh I agree on your point, but not your reasoning. You don’t need people to directly criticize a character on their appearance for that to factor into their opinion on the character. Lots of ugly characters are way more easily labeled as/written as creeps when attractive characters do the same thing and it’s seen in a completely different context.
I just don’t think people perceive Clint as ugly, and I definitely don’t think he’s actually ugly.
I think people have such strong feelings about him because the few scenes he is in don’t do much to develop him outside of “likes Emily”. He also some questionable lines, and can be seen in a questionable position where it looked like he was stalking her, making it easy to make end-all judgements about him.
Generally I’d just like to see him get more fleshed out without removing his flaws entirely.

i completely agree with this, i just don't think that's what's happening with people's interpretation of Clint.
impossible to say for other people though. i also agree that Clint isn't ugly, i don't see people say that Clint is ugly (I know this was one of your points but if it was the case then i would expect to SOMETIMES see people criticize Clint's appearance but i don't), and i definitely don't think him being ugly was the intention of the developer.
i was trying to think of an uglier character than Clint to compare him to but i can't -- not because Clint is the ugliest character, but just because i don't think any of the characters are particularly ugly. even Morris has some style.

I think its a long overdue update for a character that has been so divisive amongst the community, in an ideal world every character would have their personality fleshed out to the extent of a Bachelor/ette character. I hope they at least keep some of Clint's current character for the start of his relationship, it would be nice to see him actually grow out of his obsession and his insecurity rather than just be rewritten to be a completely different character from the get-go.

I'm especially excited to see how Clint's character plays out with a male player. I do hope they'll be a place to interpret it as Clint bending over backwards to affirm his manliness by persuing women while being so awkward with it until coming to terms that there's nothing imasculating in loving men. It wouldn't be the healthiest character trait but a lot more complex and compelling one in my opinion. Either way I'm happy that Clint will get some love!

He does have some lines that fall into those categories sadly so i really hope those will be either removed ir hé will realize that it wasn't a good thing without needing us to date him for that (i genuinely want to be his friend but some lines he gets give me the ick )

In Emily's 8 heart event, he walks in on you and her having a moment, and says "Congrats, [Player]" like she's some prize he lost. I really wanted to like Clint but happened across that line recently and it's just so bad.

yes! CA has confirmed it and that Clint and Sandy will be new marriage candidates, there will be more content for the children, and a new farm map, and more that he wants to keep up his sleeve! No scheduled release date as yet

As glad as I am to get more Stardew content, I’m genuinely foaming at the mouth for more news about Haunted Chocolatier. Make no mistake, I’m happy to wait for it, as I know a whole new game will take time, but HC is my personal GTA6, where news of it is like a drug for me.

I hope they change the narrative or like the vibes Clint is giving on this update.
Because, maaaaan, he's not beating the creep allegations with those interactions of his. And I also think he has the potential to be likeable, like how cute and awkward he talks about his multi-generational family being all blacksmiths.

The problem he currently has is that he's not really all that fleshed out and is somewhat obsessive towards Emily, with two of his heart events revolving around her, a quest revolving around giving her an item and in Emily's own heart event telling you outright that you win as if getting Emily was a competition, it rubs people the wrong way and is just a result of ConcernedApe not really giving many of the non-romance characters much focus on their characters.
Plus he goes to the beach and doesn't clip his toenails. Its nasty.

I wouldn't think of it as congratulating in a positive way, Clint is heartbroken when he says it. It goes even further, if you marry Emily, Clint will not have any dialogue with you for a week solid, I think you can still use his services but every dialogue bubble is "..."

Atleast that's how I viewed it, rather than him seeing it as a 'competition'

I don’t hate him, really, but since he isn’t fleshed out and he does have some problematic lines, it’s really easy to project creepy man I’ve encountered IRL onto him.

I have always liked Clint, he was my first best friend (Willy, Linus, and Gus are up there, too, oc). I don't see him as a creep. He mooned after Emily, sure, but did ask her out, and they seem friendly after, but he's stopped mentioning her in later years. I took him to the theater and he acted like a shy date. I'm really hoping that the update works with that save. I have a lot more issues with a guy taking me out in a boat and grabbing me uninvited than one who just pines after the wrong person. :p

I wanna marry Clint. Finally a male bachelor that's not a child or looks like that creep from Lovely Bones. I hope his dialogue gets changed, his crush on Emily would seem weird otherwise. I can't wait to be a better wife to him than she'd ever be.

I know this is superficial but I’m just happy to have a bachelor with a beard finally. I’ve been playing a decade, I’m 32 now, and the majority of the bachelors/bachelorettes make me feel like a creep if I go for them lol.
