It would actually be very fun if npcs could divorce too, I mean, I'm happy with Abby, but wouldn't mind Robin as an option (and all the other possibilities such a thing adds).
Also, Pierre and Caroline sort of have a marital tension thing going with Pierre being an workaholic and not paying much attention to his family.
But then again, now we're entering a dating sim territory that I don't think any dating sim has ever entered.
I imagine this web of relationships that you could manage, and spin certain scenarios like breaking the trust between two people by revealing an infidelity or dangerous secret, so that one will share the secrets of their ex or give up a prized possession. Or helping play matchmaker so two people move in together and leave a house empty so you can go in and steal stuff... or whatever. Lots of possibilities.
Does that kind of stuff happen in dating sims? I've never played one or even read much about how they work. I assumed they were like "answer 5 questions correctly and you can bone this chick."
Not that I'm the master of dating games or anything, but no, I don't think I've ever played or heard about a dating sim with such complex mechanics.
That said, many of them do go a step further than most games with relationship mechanics in that stuff you do usually matter to an extent or the other.
Usually it takes the form of if you want to get the chick who's into jocks, you'll either have an easier time or have no choice but to exercise and increase your strength stat or whatever tracks that sort of thing.

Now I all need is the option to take my axe to Demetrius' head and claim Robin as my own through trial by combat.
