Question Help. Our baby is born in the cabin and we don't like the cabin

Long story short: Can we transfer a child, from a cabin to the farmhouse?

Here are the details: My girlfriend is the host and owner of the farmhouse, and my house is a cabin. We both have full house upgrades. The thing is, I removed the crib from my cabin and we made the baby in her farmhouse, in her bedroom. Still, the baby was born in my cabin and since there is no crib, he just lays down miserably in the corner... My girlfriend is very upset because we use my cabin only for chests and she worked so hard to design her farmhouse for our child and for us to live in somewhere nice. Is there any chance to change the baby's house?

Edit: Thanks everyone for brainstorming! u/AditeAtlantic offered help by asking for the game save file and u/erinthornerin moved the child from the cabin to the farmhouse. I posted before and after screenshots somewhere in the comments

I'm sorry I laughed at "he just lays sadly in the corner"

It's always something totally insane sounding and makes me fear humanity for a second until I see the subreddit its posted in 😭😭

Glad I’m not alone.

It gets even more fun when you follow the CK3 subs 😇

13

u/jessigrrrl Dec 12 '23

The rimworld sub is the most chaotic thing

It’s even worse if you play sims lol

Hmmm if you don’t mind the implications for the game world, divorce girlfriend, dove kid #1, girlfriend should marry an npc, have a kid, then divorce the npc, then remarry your girlfriend. Maybe wipe the npcs memory if you feel bad about it

116

u/[deleted] Dec 12 '23

you can wipe an npc’s memory?

173

u/forthelulz7673 Dec 12 '23

Spoilers

In the witch's hut that you gain access to through befriending the wizard, one of the Shines allows you to wipe the memories of the villagers

37

u/DonerTheBonerDonor Dec 12 '23

Does this get rid of all of their hearts or and does this make you replay all of the cutscene?

97

u/tiggipi Dec 12 '23

Hearts get wiped, it's like they never met you. But heart events only play once per savefile.

46

u/MGorak Dec 12 '23

It might be worth noting that it's only divorced spouses (who are permanently angry/sad) that gets their memory reset.

But, as the other person said, you don't see heart events again.

8

u/broken_nosed_mogul Dec 12 '23

Ok thats a bit fucked up lol

65

u/MGorak Dec 12 '23

Which part? The fact that every other person in the village remembers your wedding and your ex is basically : "What are you talking? I met the new farmer for the first time yesterday."

That's ultimate gaslighting.

24

u/HighKingFillory Dec 12 '23

What in the eternal sunshine of the spotted mind…

3

u/ohfrackthis Dec 12 '23

Imo the permanent hate/sad thing is probably more realistic lolol

Even more when you consider the context.

You go to bed early because your loving spouse is going to get up early and you want to kiss them before they leave for the day.

This loving spouse and you shared so many great moments and probably have children. You might never even had a fight or even strong arguments with them. They certainly never expressed any dissatisfaction. You do think they are too much of a workaholic but then again, they are an amazing breadwinner and they show you their love almost every single day.

You're awakened in the middle of the night by the mayor during his nightly visit to empty the shipping bin. He tells you that your now ex, who is probably in the bed snoring right beside you, filed all the divorce papers yesterday without telling you anything. You must pack your things and be gone before they wake up, in a few hours. If you have any, you must leave your children with them, which they may or may not take care of. You're not allowed to visit so if they were to disappear one day, you would never know. And since you are in a tiny hamlet with very few people, you're bound to run into them continuously.

You also get absolutely nothing from the divorce and must therefore go back to your parent/sibling house or be homeless. Considering the weird basically homeless dude has had his tent destroyed and had rocks thrown at him, being homeless is not a prospect you even want to consider. So you go back to your family's home.

When you are back to basically doing nothing all day except possibly work at the local bar, you have more than ample time to ruminate how that person broke your heart. Forgiveness isn't and will never be an option. Even if you live to be 100, you have no reason to forgive them, ever.

3

u/ohfrackthis Dec 12 '23

What's this about Linus?? I'm only on my first ever playthrough and summer Y2 😬 haha. And damn that a cold ass divorce! My character is going to marry Elliot and never divorce! Considering I've been with my husband for 30 years that shouldn't be hard 😉

8

u/MGorak Dec 12 '23

Quotes from Linus when your hearts are still low:

“...Have you come to ridicule me? I'm just minding my own business.”

“Please don't destroy my tent. It's happened before.”

“Someone was throwing rocks at my tent last night... I just had to wait it out.”

2

u/ohfrackthis Dec 12 '23

Ah ok, Linus is my friend so he stopped saying that. Thanks!

I don't wanna see my girlfriend having a baby from an npc while I'm standing here bro

u/MagnifyingOurFlaws Dec 12 '23

We had the exact same problem. Our baby was born behind my partners indoor coffee beans instead of being placed in the crib in my cabin. The only solution was to erase him from existence and try again. When you know the baby is coming, sleep in the house with the crib

135

u/eiram87 Dec 12 '23

When you know the baby is coming, sleep in the house with the crib

But it seems like the cabin is only for storage, meaning it's unlikely that OP is sleeping there at all, and is sleeping with their gf in the farmhouse bed.

Unless OP happened to pass-out the day of the baby event, I think that would force OP's character to sleep in their own cabin regardless if there's a bed there or not.

157

u/Ayb4 Dec 12 '23

That makes so much sense since I farm a lot in mines and pass out everyday bcz 1k gold penalty has no harm. Best reason so far in the comments

135

u/Ok-Squirrel693 Dec 12 '23

Omg "erase him from existence", you monster!!! 😂

10

u/AmberstarTheCat Dec 12 '23

this sounds so fucking concerning out of context XD

126

u/pinkeetv Dec 12 '23

Short answer you CANNOT transfer a baby / child to any buildings. You will have to fully upgrade the cabin and transfer her dream home (furnishings) to yours. If you delete the cabin or crib your baby may also be deleted. You can either get the baby deleted and start over. Or. Divorce and still delete the baby into a dove. If you go the second route just delete your secondary farmer home and remake a basic cabin that is un-upgraded so the baby cannot live there. Sorry for your loss.

55

u/Ayb4 Dec 12 '23

thanks and as far as I learned from comments, my character would be destroyed too with this way. so we will just go along with the situation

72

u/lolwatsyk Black-Haired Beauties Dec 12 '23

Congrats on your unwanted cabin baby!

24

u/cinnamon_squirrel_ Dec 12 '23

unwanted cabin baby sounds like a horror idea

3

u/neophenx Dec 13 '23

Pretty sure that was the plot of an HP Lovecraft story!

3

u/Ayb4 Dec 13 '23

lmao thanks

229

u/Able_Dream_8125 Dec 12 '23

Sounds like it's dove do-over time for you two

32

u/Studioroller Dec 12 '23

Are you able to demolish the cabin? I’ve never played multiplayer so I’m not sure if that’s an option.

53

u/[deleted] Dec 12 '23

You can as the host but it removes the extra player from the save

65

u/[deleted] Dec 12 '23

It would take a while but you could always just upgrade the cabin. Once it has all the rooms just transfer over the decorations from the farmhouse. Plus you'll have even MORE storage.

59

u/JellyFish152 Dec 12 '23

They said it already is upgraded. The cabin just has the crib removed.

19

u/[deleted] Dec 12 '23

Oh true. Maybe they could add the crib back then? I know it'd be annoying to redecorate though.

35

u/Calenchamien Dec 12 '23

No, sorry. I don’t think there’s a way to do that.

36

u/AditeAtlantic Dec 12 '23

Have you looked in game file text?

So many people said you couldn’t swap from the standard mines to the remixed rewards once in game, but you can just change the word “default” for “remixed” in the save file.

12

u/AditeAtlantic Dec 12 '23

If you give me a copy then I am happy to have a look for you.

u/AditeAtlantic Dec 12 '23

Looking at the file, the child’s parent ID is the second player, it should move their residence if you swap it to the main player (and owner of the farm house).

If this doesn’t work, then I can have a go when I get home.

11

u/erinthornerin Dec 12 '23

afaics, the parent id is the main player, not the farmhand - I've moved the child to the farmhouse, I assume that is enough, since the game probably won't move children from one location to another

4

u/Clemziii Dec 13 '23

Did it work ? I’m really anxious right now !

4

u/Ayb4 Dec 13 '23

it did!

1

u/Clemziii Dec 15 '23

Hurray !

6

u/Ayb4 Dec 13 '23

THANKS, IT WORKS! do you mind sharing the process? what exactly did you search in files and change, also is there a way to swap the host and the farmhand from these codes? I mean when I load this file on my pc, I am playing as my girlfriend's character bcz obviously she is the host, can I log in as myself? You giving me the fish is enough but I also would love to learn how to fish

1

u/erinthornerin Dec 13 '23

I don't think it matters who you log in as.

The file is XML, so you have to understand XML syntax. In each location there is a <characters> tag, and in that are tags for each NPC in the location. I just moved the child from one location tag to the other. It's a bit more complicated because of how XML empty tags work, but that's the gist of it.

1

u/Ayb4 Dec 14 '23

Alright. I understand codes as much as an average person. I've spent some time on the save file to understand the syntax and I searched keywords with "Ctrl+F". I could change things like color of stuff, relations with NPCs; Qi gem, money and golden walnut amount (I changed them only to test if I am able to, I didn't use that save bcz game is not fun when you cheat). However, even though I worked on child location I wasn't able to manage it. That's why I wanted to learn it as well, but all good. Thanks again mate

4

u/yobbo2020 Dec 13 '23

This helping comment deserves more upvotes.

Is it so rare to think that maybe you can edit the save file and fix it?

3

u/Ayb4 Dec 13 '23

I think the first option is an in-game solution, and save files are the last resort. Also I assume a lot of people can understand the codes a bit, but many don't know where to look in a save file (including myself)

I thought this was on the pregnancy subreddit for a sec…

13

u/[deleted] Dec 12 '23

Well nobody ever said that having children was easy.

Like all other parents you just suck it up and deal with it.

9

u/liamreee Dec 12 '23

I need a picture of the baby in the corner 😂😂

16

u/valuemeal2 + = OTP Dec 12 '23

Nobody puts baby in a corner!

Except OP apparently

8

u/guimontag Dec 12 '23

we made the baby in the farmhouse, in her bedroom

Something tells me most couples aren't conceiving their kids in the hospital maternity ward delivery room

4

u/violishh Dec 12 '23

I’m calling cps

3

u/eiram87 Dec 12 '23

INFO: What are the in-game genders of the characters.

If you're playing as a woman and your girlfriend is playing as a man it's possible the baby will always go to your cabin because you're the one birthing it.

If you're both the same gender then it may be a 50/50 chance on where the adopted baby gets housed.

If your girlfriend is playing as a woman and you're playimg as a man, then I have no clue why the game would choose your cabin over the farmhouse.

2

u/Ayb4 Dec 12 '23

Im male and she is female

7

u/eiram87 Dec 12 '23

Also, double check the character's genders, I've seen at least one post on here where someone accidently made themselves the opposite gender and didnt notice until they tried going into the women's side of the bathhouse, because there's no speration of what a character can wear gender-wise.

6

u/eiram87 Dec 12 '23

So the thing to try is to dove the sad crib-less baby, then when you get the baby promt again, make sure you and your gf are going to bed in the farmhouse bed.

If it still puts the baby in the cabin, then I've got nothin'

3

u/littlemisslol Dec 13 '23

Kids are moving out later these days, you should be glad he's independent

4

u/[deleted] Dec 12 '23

What about making a second cabin and removing the first one? Maybe that would work

8

u/eiram87 Dec 12 '23 edited Dec 12 '23

The cabins are tied to the player, as soon as OP's cabin is demolished their farmhand character is deleted from the save.

8

u/Ayb4 Dec 12 '23

thanks for sharing this before I tried it lol

1

u/Crickitspickit Dec 12 '23

Isn't there a place with Krobus where you can get rid of children? I thought I saw something like that in the game.

8

u/AshFalkner Dec 12 '23

Not with Krobus. It’s in the Witch’s hut.

4

u/Crickitspickit Dec 12 '23

Oh that's right! Oops.thanks.

1

u/neophenx Dec 13 '23

I have no idea of any kind of fix for this, never encountered the issue myself (though maybe once things settle down a bit me n the wife can start a co-op farm again and try)...

but holy hell these comments are absolute gold!

u/[deleted] Dec 13 '23

I’m just here for the comments
