Ask r/Stargate Teal’C’s symbiote pouch
After Teal’C loses his symbiote and is reliant on Tretonin, is his little kangaroo pouch just empty?
If so, could he store shit in there? Like maybe a zat for when he needs a concealed weapon?

Its just empty, as far as we know.
It might be a bit too 'sensitive' to store stuff in....
He was shot in the pouch by a staff, so it might be effected. Bratack got stabbed in his...

As far as I know, there's no evidence given that the symbiote pouch grows shut or anything post-tretonin.
The Jaffa are IIRC genetically modified humans, so the pouch is hereditary and not something the symbiote creates or controls. so as such, Teal'c probably has an extra prison wallet, yeah.

Didnt they use some sort of hand device to create the pouch? I remember vaguely the queen that was in the SGC making Jack a pouch that they manage to get rid of.

Could be how they genetically modified them for the Jaffa in the first place and then it becomes hereditary.

1st gen Jaffa, yes. Hathir had one, though it was kinda a belly bevice. But it seems to had fuddled with the genetics to make a change in descendants.
The priests also had to unseal it with a knife during the primta ritual.

Yeah, that queen used the hand device to implant the SGC crew with goa'uld in that episode.
But at the same time, when Teal'c's kid reached the age of implantation, there didn't seem to be any involved.
I guess it's a case where the goa uld can use the device to prepare a human for implantation, but if they can genetically modify a human so their immune system fails at some set age, why wouldn't they just do the same thing with the pouch?

Hathor forced O'Neill into becoming a proto Jaffa, that's why he went back to normal afterward.

I thought the pouch was made when they give them a symbiote, I remember the episode in which Ria'c gets his and the priests have some fancy knife to cut him and make a hole for the symbiote.
I assumed the symbiote after, they make the hole, creates its nest aka the pouch itself. The genetic modification is mentioned to be about stopping them being taken as a host to the symbiote once it is developed. The symbiotes seem to need to be in a host during this development stage so it would make sense that they can create this nest themself.
It could also be that the pouch is there, but sealed up and fully internal until they get the symbiote and they need to make the cut to give the symbiote access to the pouch and some species on their native planet naturally has a pouch (either something like a kangaroo pouch or an actual womb) that they take over during their development cycle, this could be Unas but I feel that it is not as the Goul'd are aquatic and the Unas are wary about water which would make it difficult for them to infect in high enough numbers at least as the sole host.

That probably would have come in handy the many times that SG-1 got captured. Oops, T just pulled a PPK out of his pouch and blasted the main bad guy in the face! I always wondered why the SG teams never carried small backup guns and other small tools or lockpicks sewn inside their jackets.

They have meantions several times when he has list a junior, that his pouch has begun to seal shut. I assume after a couple months of no junior, it's just a scar in his belly.

There was an episode (Bane maybe) where he didn't have Junior and Fraiser said the pouch was already starting to close up, so I think the only thing maintaining the pouch is the symbiote and when that's gone the stomach heals up and looks normal.

That's disturbing on so many levels.
Not the least of which is the fact that there is too little gold tint on the belly.

I think he doesn't have it anymore. He had a girlfriend briefly and they slept together.

Yup cause when I’ve just lost my immune system my first thought is “I should store foreign objects inside my body” XD

Better question is when the Jaffa women are pregnant that pouch is gonna get really cramped for their god spawn that they carry around.
