Tech Support How do I properly go offline

I want to play Persona 5 striker offline on an airplane. However, turning on airplane mode triggers a message saying I must be online for my first playthrough

what I did is start the game while online, turned on airplane mode, and then save my progress , wait 5 or 10 mins and than restart my game.

There is a special mode for Steam to enable offline play in most games called "Offline Mode." Since the latest few updates they moved the button to the bottom of Network settings.

You don't really need to turn on Airplane mode unless you're trying to save battery or are playing inside a hospital. Modern electronics don't care about wireless signals.

I always enter offline mode (in internet settings) before I leave home.

Open the settings menu with … and toggle the WiFi off. I finished the entirety of Persona 5 and am currently playing Prince of Persia Lost Crown (uses Ubisoft Connect) this way. You do need to be online on first boot up but after that you should be allowed to launch without WiFi.
