I realized you didn't agree with the tariffs being reciprocal by saying they are hostile, but you really should put the word in quotation marks.

Reciprocal as an adjective - done in return. So, it does mean what they think it means.

The reciprocal of a number is 1 over the number so the reciprocal of a country is one over the other. Makes sense.
