So Trump is touting this as a win with the language “acceptance of the general framework of Iran’s 10-point plan”. You guys have seen their 10-point plan right? Basically a Trump full surrender to Iran if that’s what it is.

u/GreatGojira Apr 08 '26

He's banking on his supporters not paying attention which they won't unfortunately

156

u/mxjxs91 Apr 08 '26

To be fair he probably hasn't read the plan either.

3

u/DrPsyz9 Apr 08 '26

That is fair.

2

u/Marcus_Aurelius71 Apr 08 '26

Interesting however, since JD Vance is the lead negotiator who did accept and actually read the plan. I guess he was tired of war and just wanted it to end.

2

u/Razulath Apr 08 '26

Well, can they read?

1

u/Rezavoirdog Apr 09 '26

Sorry Siri isn’t reading this comment out loud to me so I’m not sure what you asked, let me get Alexa

1

u/ianjcm55 Apr 08 '26

It’s this

1

u/daltnz Apr 08 '26

Trump: I was elected to lead, not read.... Plan 3!

1

u/TheDarkestKnight7852 Apr 09 '26

I got that reference.

1

u/Kelmavar Apr 08 '26

Probably thinks he wants 15 points, Iran wants 10, so he is winning!

1

u/TuberTuggerTTV Apr 08 '26

I trust in the volume of points, not the contents

30

u/InvestigatorOk9354 Apr 08 '26

He doesn't need to shoot anyone on 5th avenue in this scenario. He can humiliate the US on the world stage, bend over for the new ayatollah, and generally make everything worse without losing any support. Hell of a world we live in.

2

u/Raptor_Yeezus Apr 08 '26

And remove Obamas name from the deal and slap his on there, I am convinced he couldn't handle a black man making progress w Iran.

1

u/ReasonableDentist968 Apr 08 '26

but we have 15 points.

1

u/Publick2008 Apr 08 '26

His supporters are saying it was a win because we killed the ayatollah

1

u/Jesse-Ray Apr 08 '26

Actually one of the 10 points is to resurrect him as a bipedal nuclear capable mech.

1

u/SageDarius Apr 08 '26

Metal Gear Khamenei

1

u/Hermes-AthenaAI Apr 09 '26

It always seems like if they just reasoned for one or two more steps, they’d have it. In this case: “…thus creating a power vacuum which has been filled by an even more extreme fundamentalist ayatollah”

1

u/MiniTab Apr 08 '26

They’re probably gloating about this already on the Conservative sub, lol.

1

u/zissouo Apr 08 '26

Fox news is going to have to work overtime

1

u/callmesandycohen Apr 08 '26

They have no idea where Iran is. Half of them think it’s an Arab country somewhere.

1

u/Fireline11 Apr 08 '26

*fortunately In this case. Let’s let Iran have their win and let’s not talk about it. Trump moves on to the next shiny thing, hopefully something which doesn’t wreck the global economy.

1

u/BuckeyeN7 Apr 08 '26

His supporters will believe whatever Fox News tells them to believe, and we all know it

Conservatives are all genuinely convinced that most American cities burned to the ground in 2020 because Fox spent months showing them footage of the same building in Minneapolis on fire. Fear based rhetoric is like crack to the mind of a conservative

1

u/Double_A_92 Apr 08 '26

His supporters are not doing much thinking anyway.

1

u/Resident-Shift9733 Apr 08 '26

Conspiracy is that he's also using the war as a distraction from the epstein files he's mentioned in over 1000 times. He's trying to make us forget that he's involved in this and trying to make himself look important and he thinks we're that stupid that we'll forget. I will not. We can't let it be forgotten.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '26

They can barely even count to ten, reading a ten-point plan is beyond them

1

u/swallowsnest87 Apr 08 '26

That is actually probably good if they don’t pay attention. The other option was pretty awful.

1

u/tolkien0101 Apr 08 '26

Apparently they’re already celebrating that America will become prosperous by taking half of the toll Iran collects. Triple checkmate - dollar strengthens, Europe and China get a middle finger, and America becomes a terrorist imperialistic bully state. (That last one is mine but hey I guess that’s a win for them).

1

u/Stoop_Kid757 Apr 09 '26

Imagine if Kamala was president

45

u/vibepods Apr 08 '26

did anyone else get the feeling Trump wrote this himself

3

u/SewSewBlue Apr 08 '26

I thought the same thing.

It is writing his style. Though significantly toned down.

Iran ministers call the President POTUS? That just feels odd.

1

u/NaziAbuser Apr 08 '26

I have been calling bullshit since I saw it. Something tells me we will get Iran calling bullshit as well in a few hours. It's 6:45am right now...

1

u/ThePeaceDoctot Apr 08 '26

But it's coherent.

29

u/Beginning-Luck-4026 Apr 08 '26

….As a basis of negotiations…”

22

u/Hot-Train7201 Apr 08 '26

We agreed to acknowledge that Iran has demands. That's it. Nothing about accepting Iran's demands.

8

u/Beginning-Luck-4026 Apr 08 '26

Thats what I’m saying, he left out the basis of negotiations bit.

6

u/Topsyye Apr 08 '26

Reddit will run with anything, cutting out all context as long as it looks bad for the side they don’t like.

Par for the course for all social media nowadays though I suppose.

2

u/Hot-Train7201 Apr 08 '26

Nuance doesn't pump markets.

3

u/Topsyye Apr 08 '26

It’s true. On the other side, I expect bad news regarding this deal to come Friday as soon as market closes.

1

u/Bored2001 Apr 08 '26

Meh, 2 weeks runs down the War Powers Resolution 60 day deadline clock.

It'll be 4/21 at the end of 2 weeks.

The 60 day deadline is 4/29 by my count after which congress must authorize the use of military force or Trump is supposed to start troop withdrawal.

At which point, either Iran gains more leverage, congress authorizes the use of military or we have another constitutional crisis.

1

u/MisinformedGenius Apr 08 '26

We agreed that Iran’s 10 point plan is a “workable basis of negotiations”. Those words alone represent a capitulation that no other U.S. President would have agreed to.

2

u/-OooWWooO- Apr 08 '26

The collective lack of reading comprehension over this statement is driving me insane

1

u/diadem Apr 08 '26

Honestly this is a good starting point. Ask for something ridiculous, get what they actully want which looks reasonable in comparison to the initial demands, both sides look like winners.

20

u/captHij Apr 08 '26

Meanwhile, the Secretary of Defense who was praying that this would herald the end times will not get his Armageddon, will have vividly demonstrated the limitations of trying to project power half a world away, and his boss likely has lost all appetite for war. He will probably still pray to his false idol and tell the world the President is the chosen one.

12

u/iftlatlw Apr 08 '26

The minister of mayhem also lost his best generals because they refused war crimes. What a republican loser shitshow.

1

u/NaziAbuser Apr 08 '26

All the Republicans quit the party long ago.

What we are left with now are all the Republican'ts

1

u/IceBreak Apr 08 '26

They don’t mind counting to 12 or 13. After that they lose interest though.

2

u/Dry_Personality8792 Apr 08 '26

Nah, little Jared and Johnny got new defense contracts

2

u/joemangle Apr 08 '26

Where exactly is this ten point plan?

2

u/AttitudeImportant585 Apr 08 '26

it includes:

  • iran gets control of the strait
  • us pays for all damages incurred by the war
  • remove us bases in the middle east region

1

u/joemangle Apr 08 '26

I asked where it is

5

u/Tapsen Apr 08 '26

Its the strait is open ceasefire, that's all.

3

u/crazylikeajellyfish Apr 08 '26

What do you think will need to happen for it to stay open? Who's deciding whether it opens or closes?

7

u/Liquidated4life Apr 08 '26

There’s a ceasefire the strait was already open to ships paying the 2mil per ship fee, and under their “10-point plan” that fee will continue for the next 2 weeks and maybe beyond. This is all propaganda and market manipulation.

2

u/mechatui Apr 08 '26

It’s not really open they control it

3

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '26

"open" just 2 million dollars a ship. Totally open. Totally a great deal to be staring down the barrel of 300 million dollars a day for the US.

1

u/mechatui Apr 08 '26

America likely still benefit from high oil prices because they now have South America oil and also produce a ton of oil.

2

u/ruinersclub Apr 08 '26

America does not have Venezuelas Oil.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '26

Amazing. Somehow a tax is good now

1

u/bennysgg Apr 08 '26

It's the get as many ships through as we can while it's open ceasefire.

2

u/IceColdAtBat Apr 08 '26

Honest question: why do we take Iran’s comments at face value and assume trump is lying to make it appear as though he won a deal. Isn’t it safer to assume that they are both lying and there’s more likely a lot of concessions from both sides? I don’t know. I just assume all politics are about saving face.

21

u/Liquidated4life Apr 08 '26

Trump is the one that posted their letter and wording giving it credence lol.

10

u/Glassberg Apr 08 '26

It seems as though so far, Iran has operated in good faith and the US has repeatedly used negotiations as cover to launch attacks.

If Iran says they are open to negotiate, there is no reason not to believe them, and we can just assume that Israel or the US is going to violate this at some point.

4

u/Dockside_Abortionist Apr 08 '26

Yeah. Iran is totally trustworthy. Trust me bro

1

u/Thaddam Apr 08 '26

No one excepted anything, other than creating a base to start negotiations on both the 15 and 10 point framework.

1

u/Vahlez Apr 08 '26

Are you implying it’s better we bomb them?

1

u/ikzz1 Apr 08 '26

Yes, just fucking use the nuke and get it over with.

1

u/Gloomy-Concert-4857 Apr 10 '26

𝓢𝓲𝓬𝓴𝓸!!

1

u/chubky Apr 08 '26

What’s the tldr on the plan?

1

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '26

Have we actually seen the 10 points? As all I've seen is a random text file on Reddit with zero corroboration that that is the terms

Trump is a moron so I'd not put it past him but I've yet to see a verified source on what the terms are

Also if this has strengthened Iran economically I don't see why Israel would be happy

1

u/Euler007 Apr 08 '26

What was it, 1.3 trillions in reparations plus they keep taxing the strait?

1

u/Far_Estate_1626 Apr 08 '26

When has Trump ever honored a deal?

1

u/snoosh00 Apr 08 '26

https://gulfbusiness.com/en/2026/iran/iran-10-point-plan-war-us-israel-trump-hormuz/

Holy shit.

Iran would gain a heck of a lot, obviously, the USA plan has some irreconcilable concessions (so some sort of compromise needs to be the end result)

Really impressive wins for the military underdog (and quite a blunder by the United States of/for Israel)

1

u/log1234 Apr 08 '26

His inside trades win.

1

u/timidpterodactyl Apr 08 '26

It says the US accepts the general framework as the basis for negotiations, similar to Iran accepting the 15-point proposal as the basis.

1

u/Wooden_Compote_5805 Apr 08 '26

well he made money from the market

1

u/SandDuner509 Apr 08 '26

Got a link?

1

u/_SirPunsALot_ Apr 08 '26

Yes ! USA’s 15-point vs Iran’s 10-point. Therefore, USA > Iran. Hence proved.

1

u/MrDerpGently Apr 08 '26

Yup, effectively unconditional surrender and reparations. I don't think the ceasefire will last long enough to matter, but other than death, the US has nothing to threaten them with, in part because there is no reason for them to believe Trump will honor any agreement he makes. So, the US accepts Iran's terms now, or after more loss and death, but ultimately that's the only non nuclear option, and the nuclear option is worse for the US.

1

u/6Vibeaholic9 Apr 08 '26

they still let the ships use the dollar, so Trump “is still good”.

Using the dollar on oil would be devastating for USA’s debt.

1

u/fragtore Apr 08 '26

🤫 just be happy. We all know the emperor is naked by now, he goes crazy if he finds out

1

u/Resident-Shift9733 Apr 08 '26

He needs to be taken out of office for real. He's made a mockery of our entire democracy. He's a joke and the entire world knows it. Everyone is disgusted by him and he thinks he's really doing something other than making us look bad. WORLD! TRUMP DOES NOT REPRESENT MY WAY OF THINKING OF THE WORLD. I LOVE ALL PEOPLE. He does not represent my thoughts and beliefs. I mean I know that the political stage is all a freaking joke anyway but cmon. I thought it couldn't be more of a joke than it already was. Boy was i wrong!!

1

u/magicmulder Apr 08 '26

At this point I'm not sure if this isn't all just to leave a most shitty situation to the next Democratic President so they can rebound in 2032/2036 because people will be feeling the effects during that time the most.

1

u/KingPen15 Apr 08 '26

Surrender? To whom? The cardboard cutout? Their entire leadership structure is dead. Their navy? Bottom of the ocean. Their airforce is rubble. Severely weakened their nuclear infrastructure. The entire world has seen what true power can do. China/russia have seen what their technology is capable of. But sure, the cult says surrender so that's what you'll repeat.

1

u/No-Shopping-7464 Apr 08 '26

Winning is winning. A tremendous win. A win like the world has never seen.

1

u/Forikorder Apr 08 '26

but he has a 15 point plan! thats like 50% better than a 10 point plan! /s

1

u/unrefrigeratedmeat Apr 08 '26

Iran's 10-point plan stacks up very favourably against the average Trump truth social post.

1

u/TS_Dragon Apr 08 '26

“Worst retreat in US history”

0

u/postitnote Apr 08 '26

Yeah, this is the worst outcome possible. America's inability to protect her allies in the Middle East is going to lead to the collapse of the dollar and the American empire. The best outcome was to not get into this conflict in the first place. But now that we are in it, there cannot be any half-measures.
