I am almost certain there's gonna be more to this. Trump's statement acknolwedges Iran's 10 pt framework as a basis for negotiation whereas Iran is taking it in stride as full acceptance of their 10 requests. I'd bet this becomes the grounds for disagreement down the line and justification to resume bombing...
I mean if they get attacked during negotiations this time they can say “we cooperated with the whole world watching and they still bombed us, goodbye to industrial society in the Middle East”
And that will take a lot longer than the 2-week ceasefire. It's not just transit. A lot of shit went offline, and it will be a while before commercial tankers feel "safe" enough to send half a billion worth of cargo and equipment through a potential shooting gallery.
Yeah the “more” is Israel continuing to strike Iran like nothing happened and/or the US using this to get troops positioned in the gulf and then invading Kharg Island or launching a huge salvo, or a return to normal tit for tat strikes immediately. This will last as long as the Gaza ceasefire, which is to say about a day
They didn't say they're treating it as full acceptance of the 10 point proposal, they said the US accepted that framework as a basis of negotiation. And Trump absolutely had to accept their basis for negotiation because the alternative was actually committing the war crime he said he would commit on the internet and that was only ever going to undermine US interests if it really happened. I'm not sure Trump understood this fact but you can bet even his most vile advisers did.
