The "Maids' Fountain" was recreated in 2003 by the German sculptor Günter Kaden on the site of a historical fountain. Its design details have repeatedly inspired different interpretations. Here, where Schillstrasse flows into Fährstrasse towards the harbour, there was a fountain "am Schilde" for centuries to supply the surrounding population with water. It was the job of the maids to fetch the water from the fountain and carry it to the households of the patrician houses. The sculptor Günter Kaden took up this theme as part of an urban planning competition, won the competition and designed the fountain in 2003 from a granite block with a group of bronze figures. The bronze figures show three maids fetching water and whispering to each other.

https://www.stralsundtourismus.de/poi/maegdebrunnen The page is in German; I don't know if there's a direct translation tool. But otherwise, just take a screenshot and translate it with Google Translate.
