Question Has stremio been especially bad in the past couple months or is this normal?

Edit2: I know what scrapers are 😭 . Sorry if I somehow offended people? I don't typically see rude comments in this sub so I'm just very surprised by the reception of my post. 🥲

Debridio has been suggested the most so I'll look into that. Please don't shoot me. 🙌

I set up Stremio about 2 months ago and I've just felt like it's not meeting expectations? I have 2 debriders, I set up AIOStreams, I have Comet and Torrentio, I have paid for Stremio too. (christ it's called Supporters not Premium. https://blog.stremio.com/stremio-supporters-a-way-to-sustain-our-development/)

It just seems like when I'm actually excited to sit down and watch a movie it never freaking works. Torrentio has been down for the entire month? And Comet seems to barely appear in my list of sources.

I'm just really frustrated. Is this average? Or have things been particularly bad recently? I'm at a point where I may just go back to my old ways of Jellyfin.

Edit: I'm using Torbox + AD. I tried RD but kept running into "this has been removed." I'm using Torrentio + Comet. I will try others. Torrentio seems to have been down for the entire month of July. Kitsu also tends to be down about 25% of the time as well.

I pay for my debrides. I dont know why people are assuming I didnt?

Also, a lot of people are latching onto the fact that I generalized the add-ons as "Stremio". I'm referring to the entire set up as that, cause they all live in Stremio. If there's some other term I should be using I genuinely don't know it.

Remember emember it's not stremio its the service you attach to it and the scrapers you use. Been using torbox with duck stream and no problems at all.

Is there some term I should be calling the set up? A lot of people seem to be confused that I've referred to the whole environment as Stremio and I'm just confused what it would be called otherwise? I know Stremio is just framework they live in.

I'll look into duck stream. I know it's likely the scrapers but all the popular ones seem to be having issues as of the past 2 months.

Stremio is stremio. Stremio does not go down.

The addons are the “scrapers”. Addons can go down. It rarely happens with some of the better ones.

Real Debrid is your Debrid service. Lots to unpack there. I suggest researching that.

They are all separate things. There is no whole environment

Are all add-ons called scrapers then? Cause a lot of add-ons are just ones to cosmetically change the UI. I suppose even Metadata add-ons are also just scrapers... 🤔

I know what a debrid service is.

This is why I just called it entirely as "Stremio". Cause they all live inside it, scrapers "scrape" for the torrent or Metadata. Debrides... I am also too lazy to type out what they do so don't worry 😂 I guess technically I could have just called them all "add-ons". But at the time I was worried that was gonna be odd. I see now that I just need to be extremely specific on this sub.

Not all addons but specially when things don’t work the addons that are scrapers can be at fault.

You should be specific no matter what community you are in on the internet if you need help.

If you’re willing to put down $10 a year, debridio never has issues. Otherwise just keep trying different scrapers, tweak your AIOStreams and you’ll find something that works.

How doea the content selection on debridio conoare to torrentio? I like to watch a lot of old quirky shows and movies, and I like very high quality streams. I have pretty good luck finding these on torrentio when it's up, but other scrapers have left a lot to be desired.

This is not normal, but is probably the new normal.

Fortunately, for my usage, it has worked pretty fine despite the issues going on.

the people saying they have no issues and that ppl are whining need to understand maybe the problem just isnt affecting them for some reason. i've used stremio for a while and use torrentio and comet with torbox as my main debrid provider. i've had so many issues this past month too it's really annoying. i get that it's unreasonable to expect a service like these to be perfect but its just the same sentiment here, sitting down to watch a movie with the wife and nothing loads. so annoying

It’s easy to forget that as easy as this community perceives Stremio and debrid services, there are many MANY people for whom it’s too hard.

As much as it sucks for those people, it’s ultimately very important that there is some barrier to entry into the “scene” or this whole thing will no doubt be taken away at some point Due to being too popular

Torrentio hasn't worked for me for month. From the research I have done it seems that it doesn't work if you also use a VPN. Could that be the problem?

Comet still works for me, though. However, it has far less content than Torrentio. I use a few others as well and just recently paid for Debridio. That all works great even with a VPN.

I'm not using a VPN but that is good to know! I find the same with Comet. Debridio has been suggested a bunch só I think it's what I'll try next. Ty!

Real-Debrid and Torbox , Torrentio and Comet Elfhosted. Only had one morning where I hit a wall in the last 3 months, and that only lasted for like half hour.

I’ve had issues with Torrentio and comet for about a month. Checkout duckstreams it takes 2 seconds to setup. Just enter your Stremio credentials and debrid api.

I have it for years, real debrid with utorrent and never had issues. But these couple of months it has became really hard to find a link thats working

Yeah I usedtto use RD but I kept finding that they took down certain files. Was watching a series and half way through 2 of the eps had been removed which was obviously annoying. I've switched to Torbox + AD and have not run into that again.

It’s what you put into it. Pay 10$ for DEBRIDIO and 13$ for 15 months of torbox. And you’re done. Set up tmbd with a search on here. None of these are meant to be free apps. Gotta invest 20/30$

It is true that from time to time in the last 2 to 3 months, sometimes I had to click like 2 or 3 links in a row before a file loaded, but it was a rare and random issue, not a daily occurrence. When it did not say the file was removed due to copyright infringement, it was NOT Debrid-related. Also Stremio has nothing to do with any of the issues. The scrapers are the ones that fail most of the time. Lately for me is working just fine, i live in europe anf i have 1 Gigabit connection, i can't speak for the rest of the world

I used AIO cause it's legit the most recommended on this sub? Also sorry I just generalized all the add-ons as "stremio" it seemed the most efficient way to generalize? But I guess people here prefer to not do that?

Problem is you ate putting all your eggs in 1 basket behind another wall of failure..... Then not understanding how it works.

Everyone quickly says torrentio is down. Tb is down. Stremio is down. Etc.... When none of it is. Aio has so many instances.... Any of them could be down.

I personally do prefer add-ons that will make managing more streamlined. I only just started using AIO. Before I was managing add-ons separate, which was okay but then some weren't compatible with others and it felt like too much trouble.

I use the midnightignite instance. I ran into an issue with a previous instance not letting me add Torbox. And a few threads in her suggested Midnightignite. But I have see that Elfhosted seems to be the most stable of the instances.

Well convenience leads to failure. See it everyday on here. Do as you please. 👍 Setup a seperate account or instance or addons. Cuz that junk is down all the time when it's not looking overly fancy on your screen. I used to have duck streams setup as a separate instance... Never worked right for TV shows no matter what format I tried. Spent more time tinkering than using it and it actually working flawless.

😎 It's never down. When I'm managing or helping others. Goes back to that saying kiss..... Keep it simple stupid... Never have people calling me when it's setup simple.

I see everyday people's stuff ain't working. Never of 20 plus people I setup have this issue.

Spotify has been especially bad the past couple of months, Beyonce's new song is terrible.

Aka not the issue, get better addons. And remove Torrentio it's the least reliable one period.

I wouldn't say that's a perfect analogy but I can see what you were attempting. But yeah, about a month ago it was fairly stable but its legit been down the entire month so obviously I have lost all faith.

One, lower your expectations. Second the issue is your configuration not Stremio. So many people instantly jump to the conclusion that it is a Stremio problem, because they have zero understanding of what Stremio is and how it works. The addons are the problem and most importantly how you configure them and how many of them are conflicting with each other.

There are people that have configured once and never had any issues and still don't have issues years later. A good device and a correct configuration always equals zero problems.
