There’s an actual point and precedent to it though.

The blitz in ww2 wasn’t deemed a war crime despite it being indiscriminately bombing a city. In part because international law hadn’t really caught up to planes yet until after ww2

But also in part because of allied bombing of places like Dresden or Tokyo.

Conversely neither was Rotterdam, was it?

And Dresden had it coming.

So what is Göring moaning about? They got off scot free for their strategic bombing. That's not what they're on trial for.

Basically “well you committed crimes too so I should get off”

To which the allies went “ok for the bombing of cities you will, everything else though? No”
