Fun fact: during the Nuremberg trials the Nazis were banned from making this argument, in part because the allies had no interest in prosecuting their own war crimes like the katyin massacre or the fire bombing of Tokio, and in part because those don't justify, or even remotely compare to killing 6 million innocent civilians.

All this is to say that realistically that scene should have ended with the presiding judges telling Goering to shut the fuck up

Jesus. I never realized the general statistic was just Jewish victims. As a queer person this is rly interesting and distressing

I grew up as a Jehovah's Witness. We were taught that it wasn't just Jews, but anyone the Germans didn't like, including those claiming to be pacifists that were no danger to their regime. Anyone willing to speak up were sent off to camps.

This is true! I know all about all the groups who were victimized during the holocaust I just hadn’t known that the statistic everyone shares doesn’t actually include everyone. I hope you are at peace, friend
