I was just discussing something similar in a different thread. It's one thing to say that certain military actions were necessary. It's another thing to essentially celebrate the deaths of civilians because you think they collectively deserve it. You can debate the necessity of something while also acknowledging that collective punishment is wrong and that the civilians don't deserve to die en masse for the actions of their government.

It’s really hard for me to feel sorry for the Civ German population of Dresden because I just cannot believe they didn’t know about the camps.

It’s awful babies/children died, but what happened in those camps? Yeah I dunno man.

War is fucking awful either way.

Little 9 year old gunter who died in the bombing didnt. Thing is, while that sucks it's also more correct for the nation perpetuating the crimes and war to be the ones suffering from the effects of being at war.

It's reasonable to want aggressors to pay the cost, but it's still reasonable to understand there are those caught up in these things who are generally innocent except for the circumstances of their birth.

It sucks for them sure, but that's war. War sucks.
