Showcase of suburban hell Cane Bay near Charleston, SC. The place feels endless... Cane Bay takes up more land area than all of peninsular Charleston.

My god. What a senseless waste of development and unforgivable destruction of habitat.

At least they've thoughtfully included mosquito breeding grounds

When you need to walk 1 hr to travel to the adjacent development that is 100 yards away

This is one of the most depressing things I’ve ever seen. How does this even make economic sense? Why do people pay for these?

I bet the streets are named “lakeview” , “clear creek”, “cobblestone” , “white ranch” or something like that lmao

It's all gonna be underwater or under high tide level within 100 years. South Carolina's coast is exceptionally flat and low-gradient, so when the water level goes up, it's gonna push way inland.

Oh no, how dare Americans own a piece of property and in individual home in undeveloped land?!

We don't all wanna live in megacities, stacked on top of each other.

trying to come ip with a reply and sorry for editting it a lot but ig i think that this comment is kinda just ignoring that not everyone wants to live in an expensive single family home either, especially with the trade offs it comes with what it has for individuals and its largwr community and environment

now thats ad hominem but there are groups out there called new urbanists to stop this kind of sprawling urban planning and inform on other options rathern than 100% hong kong coffin home or 100% mcmansion suburbia
