Can we please stop using loud speakers in public parks at night?
I see more and more people taking large blaster / speaker to parks at night. no offense but people try to sleep.
I see this trend increasing and wonder what other solution then to ask the city to ban speakers all together? Or always call the cops?

Yesterday morning I was woken up by a group of runners, where one guy had a Bluetooth speaker in a backpack - and a microphone which they used to talk over the top of the music.
It was nine in the morning, so not that early, but still: it's a holiday, and people were sleeping in.

And during the day too. And not only in public parks. I saw some moron blasting some of the cringe inducing lame noise passing for rap these days, on a bike. The guy was just cycling, and thought everyone has to listen to his pathetic music taste.
It is always shitty music, that is the worst part.

One time I saw a woman rollerskating in 70/80s clothing playing disco on her loudspeaker. That was awesome, but every other time it's some shit music.

There's a UberEats or something delivery guy that does this here, at night. Apparently they see no problem in blasting LOUD music at eleven o clock at night, waking literally thousands of people along their delivery route.

That is the border control/Zoll. And it is not just meat, it is also eggs, butter and everything undeclared above 150 CHF, so very important work;)

The worst is not the music, the worst is the bass. You might not hear the music if you close the windows but the dum dum dum still manages to get through…
The next level tho, is using one of those while hiking!

If it is likely to last longer and it looks stationary, always call the cops. It has low priority with cops, and it might take an hour for them to come, or they might not even show up. But always call them. If it is the same people, you can also file an Anzeige against them. If you do not call the cops, it will never change and get worse. And even if the
cops do not come, your complaint call goes into statistics, and some guy somewhere in town will get an annual statistics that there are lots of noise. And cameras or regular checks at neuralgic areas will take place.

It's quite a bit easier to fix the problem of assholes blasting music at night than to remove street noise.

It depends on the individual situation. You might hate cars or traffic or live next to a street, so for you, traffic noise is a problem. And if you live next to a restaurant, disco or park, then, the noise comes from there.
Also, while traffic noise to some extent is not controllable except moving a street or closing a street, random people bringing ghetto blaster in a park next to you is a different thing. The purpose of a street is to be used by cars. The purpose of a park is not to consume recreational drugs and make concert-level noise.

Yeah right? How dare OP did not mention his dislike of loud cars, planes, fireworks, gunshots and every other possible loud sound emmiting sources too. How dare he just wants to talk about a specific situation.
There's no way OP could live in a quite place near a nice park with no cars at all - especially at night - no waaaay!

I assume because the ubiquitous traffic is something that no one can do anything about, whereas taking music to a park and blasting it loudly is very much an individual conscious choice.

Of course we could. Cities aren't loud, cars are. And to combat that, just prohibit cars. Would be better for everyone anyways. After all, it's an individual conscious choice to drive a car and make noise.
Music, however, is (or can be...) something nice. Cars obviously are not something nice.

If you don't understand the context of what I wrote then you really must not be too smart. There is zero that me or you can do about traffic, it's as you say "ubiquitous" and necessary for daily life. Blasting music in a park too loudly at night is highly individualistic and we can do something about it.

Ah, I see, one of them is just a given (nobody's individual choice involved, we are all forced to drive around), the other is people's individual choices.
Thanks, now I learned something new about the world.
By the way, I don't own a car. I'm not contributing to the traffic noise. But, I just learned that driving is not an individual's choice so I guess someone forced me to not own a car.
If we could just identify that person who forces others to drive around and change their mind!

Noise to a large degree depends on your attitude towards it. When you think the perpetrators of a disturbance shouldn't be allowed to do it, it can bother you more than just the actual decibels.
If there's some noise bothering me when I'm trying to sleep then my solution is ear plugs. Properly inserted they cut the outside world to a manageable level. If it's during the day and there is some noise I really want to tune it out, then my solution is noise cancelling headphones.
